Ive noticed that the more I dock/undock or jumpgate, the worse my performance becomes, eventually forcing me to restart the client. Has anyone else noticed this? At first I thought It was perhaps my computer overheating, causing the CPU to drop in speed as not to damage itself but I have managed to replicate the sessions change theory which makes me believe it has something to do with the client. My framerate drops as low as 6FPS and I've even managed to crash to desktop it after completing a 20+ jump in combination with some dock/undocking

This happens to me as well, which is why I do the Bootcamp thing.

I can't speak for recently but this has generally happened on all platforms, just that the others have a faster client is all.

With the Windows client under bootcamp, this has not happened to me at all, and I've played all day with well over 30 jumps.

Keep going, lots more than that will be needed. And remember to do lots of market look-ups too.

Yes, I play on both platforms and I agree that it seems to be happening on both. My alliance is doing 4 and 5 hour CTAs and it really doesnt' matter if I'm on the Mac or Windows client, it eventually slows to a crawl.
I just finished an op and we worked in a system with only about 100 people in it for several hours. We had 3 node crashes during that time and severe unexplainable lag at times.
Hope they are looking into things.

Download iSTAT and check memory allocation. Eve at startup allocated 560 mb of ram and after a couple hours of use gets close to 3gb (on a 4gb system). This is either a memory leak or something else.
Check your mem usage.

Completely agree, I may not crash quite as often as before the Dominion 1.1 patch, but I am still crashing in the same style as before. Still getting the error Cider buffer overrun.
I don't think CCP fixed "the" memory leak, rather they fixed "a" memory leak and need to do some further digging.
Don't ask me to run the cider error log, been there, hated it, not doing it for free.
Oh here's a great idea, NATIVE MAC CLIENT. I don't know what the excuse for not doing this is, any extra time spent making it would totally be made up for by more mac users getting into the game (or coming back if they heard it WORKED now).
Microsoft must love CCP, because you're the only reason I'm even bothering looking into bootcamp. |

There is two other options: CrossOver and WineBottler. Both do a good job once you're up and running. You might want to read the Linux forum to get to grips with the Eve workarounds needed.

Cheaper for me to just use bootcamp by the look of it. I can get a windows XP product key pretty cheap from the stores around here. And since it's so hard to find a job right now, spending less money is a good thing.

Originally by: Disco Jack ... I'm getting snow-leopard within the next day or so as well, late Christmas gift. I may re-install the client from the download again once that is in place as the very last test before I get windows on my machine.
Actually, how is buying Windoze a cheaper option exactly? Seems to me like you are just fooling yourself.

I reported a similar problem over 6 months ago, with extensive documentation and troubleshooting, and nothing has been done. The bug report ID is 82001.
The problem appears to be related to the market. In my case, I was able to increase the jump times -- up to the point where when the system loaded I was already in emergency warp -- simply by using the market to repeatedly look up prices.
The only cure is to quit the game and log in again. World Domination - It's fun for the entire family! EViE - The iPhone / iPod Touch Skill Training Monitor

I've noticed this too and under the same conditions. If I spend a lot of time doing market orders/updates then the amount of time for grid to load for me when undocking/jumping to a new system goes up proportionally until like Trebor I find myself already in emergency warp. And like Trebor the only fix I've found is to exit and restart. Presumably the issue is some kind of resource leak in some of the market functionality.
