Edited by: mundus123 on 15/01/2010 05:00:27 It will never be. Why, because after all this time its so awesome and increadible that if they let us see it our eyes will melt!
Though a bone would be nice, hell even a new dev blog or wisper about the next expansion would be cool.

Edited by: Aloriana Jacques on 15/01/2010 05:01:39 Apparently it's scheduled for a winter 2010 release. But we know how that goes, even though I'm still excited for it. It's apparently taking on a much darker purpose. IE; encouraging people to get out of their pods to do things (most likely illegal things) that occur "off the grid" as it were.
Also; as per the dev q&A when asked "do you HAVE to do Incarna" they insinuated those using Incarna will gain some type of advantage by doing so. Much like an industrialist gains an advantage by doing his own mining. But you still won't be "forced" to do anything. Nobody's FORCED to mine, nobody's FORCE to...incarnate(???!)!
Edit: But other than that....I do want the devs to throw us a dam bone. >:[ - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

Hm, if I could ask a question it would be about the use of dx11, or rather any use of tesselation for WIS/Incarna.

My understanding from what was said at FanFest09 was the Summer expansion will be planetary interaction and maybe T3 frigates and Incarna should be after that. But an update would be nice on both those things

We hear that every year (about WiS) so i wouldn't keep my hopes up. And quite frankly i'm more than ok with idea of dumping it to the trashcan and never mentioning it again ;p

I don't know, it WOULD be cool to interact with characters "in person", but I wouldn't want it to create an empty out-of-station universe.

I don't think it will. It's optional, and not everyone actually wants to partake in it. Much like how wormholes exist but don't empty out regular space.
In all honesty, if it DID cause a drastic shift, I would label is as a failure. Not in features, but balancing against existing content. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

If you have the ability to assassinate people who are normally invulnerable (.01 traders/scammers and all that) I'd totally support it. Just the ability to force-teleport them to a random station a region or 2 over. Please.

It better involve Risk.
It better involve Illegal Activities
It better be coupled with a revamp to low sec to go with those Illegal Activities.

Probably won't see a revamp to low sec yet. Apparently they did brainstorm a popular idea all about the dark and gritty, centred around lowsec at their last dev get-together in Las Vegas. A lot of people seemed excited about the prospect when the devs brought it up. So it might very well be a possibility. Especially if they go all illegal-like with Incarna. That'd just add even more to lowsec to take it and go even further. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

I just don't like the idea of Walking in Stations simply for the point of walking in stations. It doesn't fit Eve in my opinion.
Coupling it with a reason to go to low sec, like what was brainstormed at the Eve Vegas meet seems like a perfect way to implement WIS without it being all dress up and drinking games.

Coupling it with a reason to go to low sec (e.g. you go to a low sec station, where you can unplug from the CONCORD grid, and accomplish nefarious deeds Incarna), like what was brainstormed at the Eve Vegas meet seems like a perfect way to implement WIS without it being all dress up and drinking games.
It's fine that you don't like it, it's entirely in your right to do so. But just don't think of it that way (this is most likely the reason they're going with the "get off the grid" theme now) but as just another part of the game. Just like wormholes, faction warfare, nullsec, mining, maintaining pos's, running missions, trading, etc. They're all facets of the same game.
Granted, you won't be in a spaceship for Incarna, it will offer a good change for some, another avenue of interest for others, and will most likely bring new, and some old, players back into the game because it's filling in some of the holes that EVE lacks. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

Ok, I promise I wont kill them. I just want to be able to knock em out, shove their smug little arses into a crate, and toss em into a NPC transport heading 30 jumps away. If that transport pops.. then so be it.

There also needs to be massive risk associated with going Incarna.
Our immortality is tied to our clones, which are tied to our pods.
As far as I understand the lore (although I'm reading through Empyrean Age right now and the Broker character somewhat confuses this for me), if you die outside your pod, you have no clone back up and you die for good (please correct me if I'm wrong here).

Nope, you're right in that if a pilot is killed outside their pod they are permanently killed. It's for this reason that the devs are preventing character death possibilities in Incarna. The example given was "assassinating the leader of an alliance with a spoon" would not be accetable. XD
I foresee the only risk in Incarna being economical. Just like current traders, there'll be trading and industry just like we have for ships, but for Incarna goods. So you'll probably be risking just as much as a regular trader moving goods from station to station, for example.
We really can't do much but speculate until CCP unzip their damned lips on the subject. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

Or they could just upgrade the clone tech to not need the pod that seems fair enough.(then you can see the dead pod piolet burst into flames like a vampire in sunlight when he gets killed lol)

Id love to some more info on Incarna and WiS. Also info about DUST. But imho you should be able to do more then trade and stuff in stations. Upgrade the way clones are handled and have the ability to KILL in stations. Put a "cord" policeforce on them so you could be held in custody and maybe even inprisoned. There are tons and tons of ideas that would make this possible. Missions ON STATION: Track down a Sansha Pirate that are trying to assasinate some agent or something..Lots of possibilitys..
Dock in station, "Leave Ship" means you go outside. Walk around in the station doin stuff. Like DUST, Dock on Planet, "Leave Ship" walk on planet...

I think that this sort of thing could end up real good or real bad because the game could end up like a game totally based on ground but what i would like to see is a whole new skill set tto use things like guns and armor and the ability to board and fight for ships and planets and stations these sort of things would need to be more of a secondary thing bcuz if it became to popular the true thing, the ships would be overshadowed
pls make it but dont be stupid about it.

Might it be possible that Incarna wont be an expansion, its just the name they call the software behind it, and that Incarna might just fall in under the Tyrannis expansion as a feature??
