On a golem is it worth fitting 3 painters, do u get that much more benefit over only using 2 ?

3 painters lets you instapop more cruisers, and it also lets you have a lot more flexibility in how you apply painters, which decreases the penalty of the huge disparity in cycle times with your torp launchers. I run with 3.

I run 3, only need a 4 slot tank. alternately 4 slot tank 2 tp and an afterburner. although that account has been inactive for a while though.

Three TPs lets a torp Golem pop cruisers about as well as a cruise missile CNR can.

3 painters lets you instapop more cruisers, and it also lets you have a lot more flexibility in how you apply painters, which decreases the penalty of the huge disparity in cycle times with your torp launchers. I run with 3.

can you justify to me the 3rd painter over an afterburner?
I am currently running a dual small b-type tank, with 2x painters and an afterburner. I would like some incite as i find the afterburner to be of extream value. I am thinking of upgradeing out of the dual b-type tank, as for some reason in the last month or so the tank is no longer capable in every mission, it used to be but it does not seem to be able to anymore i dont know why.

Sure. Every mission has cruisers. Not every mission requires an AB to get into range or to get to the next gate. It may conditionally be useful to switch out a TP for something else (MCB/AB), but your run of the mill fit should have 3 TPs IMO.

This is probably the best fit around... I have been flying this for a while now and it increased my mission completion time by a lot. Read the notes and posts on why and how to fly with this setup.

Tank is a bit light at just under 3 minutes of run time. IME, there aren't enough long distance gate missions to justify a full time AB. The missions that start you 10-20km away from the next gate aren't normally a problem since you've just finished killing off everything and salvaging by the time you have slow boated to the gate.

The tank is better then my current fit, and i ab charge teh enemy ships to fire cn missiles instead of javaline.

never saw a CNR popping cruisers. 2 tp do well for popping cruisers with torp golem. (instant). if you have enough skills...

well i dont instant kill every cruiser bust most of them. the normal frigs and battlcruiser are also instant kills most of the time. (javelin torps and all relevant skills on 5)

I've been seeing the same thing with a dual B tank of late. Something has been changed somewhere but i'll be damned if I know what or why.

The Golem has an extra mid-slot and a built-in shield boost amplifier for a reason. That reason is the second and third target painter.

I am constantly running my ab, to move to the next gate, to move towards targets so i can change to faction torps to speed up my time, and to generaly get things done faster, its probably running as much as my sheild boosters.
However the 3 slot tank i posted above is working great, i strong recomend it, 3x targets paintesr and an afterberuner for the win!
