I am wondering because I have the looking to buy one of the two and there is about a 20mil price difference between them. Can someone please them me which would be the better ship to own. Mult. purpose use sometime missions sometimes pvp.
Also I know the Cerb has a bonus to missile flight time and rate of fire.
Also a second question which missiles are better for the two ships HAM or HM

Edited by: Proxyyyy on 06/01/2010 20:04:04 Many say the Navy issue seems to be superior! As for what missile launcher should be used is a very difficult question, but many say hml's on both and Aml's to lesser extent...
Also the hookbill is better than the hawk because of its abiltiy to dictate ranage which is very important for missile based ships with limited tank. The Navy issue is also very fast and able to better dictate range compared to its T2 counterpart...

Caracal NI has more cap and fitting stats. Also can fly at lower requirements.
Cerb has T2 resists and more bonuses.
Both are good ships, both can fly HM or HAM. Caracal NI is a faction ship and as such has a large "Call me Primary" sign mounted to the side of the ship. I would avoid using Caracal Navy Issue in PVP unless you really know what you are doing... cause they WILL be coming after you.

Ok thanks for the input on this I guess I will go the cheaper route for now and get the Caracal NI and just not do any PVP in it

Navy Caracal is faster and more agile; Cerberus has greater range and better resists. Don't use HAMs on either unless you really know what you're doing; go for HMLs or AMLs if you want the anti-frigate role.

Pity they're both trash.
Also got a question - did the Caracal Navy Issue get a power grid buff? I seem to remember it being almost impossible but now it seems fairly workable. Edit: nvm, having CPU issues with it instead. Been a while since I EFT'd this. _________________________________

Cerb is such an amazing sniper, I think that puts it slightly ahead. It's almost workable to use HAMs on the Cerb as well due to the "range" bonus. ___________________

As with any T2 vs faction ship argument, it really comes down to skills, a cerb is pretty useless unless u have heavy assault ships 5 (and a lot of 5s in missile support skills if u have hams), on the other hand the navy caracal only needs caldari cruiser 5 to be at it's best.

I perfer Cerb as HM platform where range is importent.
N Cara is very fun with AMLs and a nano fit (as long as the frigs don't run away as soon as they see you on scan), but its not bad for HM either.
As for HAM, I find that they both generally have to litte PG to be worth it, tho thats not always, a HAM Cerd do deliver good damage at range and is sometimes desireble. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
