1. devs said that happy with hulks and will not be any new mining ship in the near future
Don't make stuff up. CCP devs has never said this. The only thing they have said on the matter is that they will not add a ship the mines ore faster than a Hulk.

2. a capital mining ship will not be allowed in empire that will make the rich players from 0.0 to become even richer while the poor peeps from empire will remain in hulks
Now repeat after me. This ship WILL NOT mine faster than a hulk. CCP said as much, so this makes no sense.

3. if the capital ship will be allowed in empire everybody will mine in afk mode cause planets don't pop up and are no rats near planets
Its a capital, so I don't think it will be showing up in high sec like any other capital.

4. if the ship show up it will be the end of asteroids belts , hidden blets and anything related to mining etc
5. the market and mineral prices , the balance between missions runners and miners
Already answered these above.

6. not even the joves have something like that , it looks like a T5-T6 ship
7. is a great ideea but is to early since now miners don't have not even a mining ship bs class and u want to go capital
Okay? First off, the "tech" here is incredible simple. Look at titans. Mining ships has never followed the typical ship tree. We have mining frigates, cruisers, and T1/T2 mining 'frigates' AKA barges/exhumers. So how a BS class mining ship would fit in there, I have no idea.
Yes, I want to go to capital. I have spent years in the hulk mining and I am getting sick of sitting in the same ship with the same fittings.
More important than anything else, I want a upgrade path for miners. I haven't trained a mining related skill in years, and frankly, that's not acceptable.

Originally by: Creedeth Just balance the time it takes to process roids, say 3-5x the yield of a Hulk. But profit reduced by fuel cost, would take loads of invested Isk aswell and high end skills.
Really like a titan for carebears.
Nice thought but requiring so many to support it, that makes it less economically viable than a Hulk. If a hulk requires 2 or 3 support ships to protect it in lowsec/nullsec, the profit margin is decreased by that amount. However, 2 or 3 Hulks will only require the same support. Nobody is going to send out a mining Titan without significant protection and having only maybe twice the yield of a Hulk after fuel costs, it would be more economical to send out 2 or 3 Hulks instead. Also the cost of losing it, 2 or 3 Hulks would be far cheaper.
In the end, if its mining potential is lower than a cheaper alternative, why bother to use it?

Edited by: Asenghai on 11/02/2010 02:20:16 Planet cracking is not a bad idea lol, but not to the official systems that are linked by gates. Imagine you have to scan down a system and fit a Jump drive to be able to get there or even WH system. After all USG Ishimura was harvesting dead planets only so that xbox 360 game is not affected.
I would have one just for the sake of having one lol, a ship of that size

Before we go capital wouldnt it be an idea for a t3 varient of the hulk. some sort of modular miner that can have bonus' to cargo space or mining speed or something. seems much more of an eve thing that a massive capital miner designed to crack moon sized rocks.
I'd imagine that the cargo hold mod would end up having you look like a giant tick sucking on a rock but thats the way it would go haha... |

Not wanting to throw a small spanner in the works here but the problem of travelling between systems will need to be resolved. It's not so much the ship concept in itself, more "how does it work in the game".
Large ships (capitals) have been declared to be too large to be able to use a normal inter-system gate, hence they have jump drives. Jump drives require the use of a cynosural beacon in the destination system. Cynosural fields are currently prohibited/jammed in highsec.
If cynos were re-enabled, we would revert back to an environment which the block was specifically put in place to avoid (capitals and supercapitals in highsec).
Any consistent answers for this? Don't want to stifle innovation and all that but there are constraints that need to be worked within (I know CCP doesn't always maintain in-game consistency but there's no good reason to break it "just because").

This idea works...Which is exactly why it won't ever be in eve. Sure it needs tweeking and sure it could stand to get some restrictions in place but the idea works.
Also I'd like to point out that it's pretty stupid for CCP to state that they aren't going to make a ship better than the hulk at mining. That'd be like making one PvP ship better than all the others...eventually everyone would be in that ONE ship. They nerffed the mega...they nerffed the nano domie and they'll nerf the Hulk. It's they're style. Why then do I still play this...because I like the mind numbingly ease of mining. I don't macro and I don't afk...I sit and watch my hulk work. Because in my day to day life the thrum of my strippers sooths me.
Let me say this again...This ship will never be in EVE because it works and it's a great idea. Personally I like to mine. However I relize that there are others out there that would take from those that have worked hard. Insofar as that I have learned the ways of the Pirates. I will make them p |

Edited by: Avalon Ranger on 12/02/2010 11:51:53 First of all I like the idea of a capital miner but I feel that going from Hulk to Capital Hulk is a bit of a huge jump. I like the idea however of limiting where it can go. I think denying it high sec access without making it the size of a small station would be a nice idea. (Any ideas how?) A Hulk is around the size of a cruiser. While the Hulk has a massive mining capacity I feel that going from a Hulk to something that could mine Planets is a little bit of a large jump.
I like the idea however of a Mining vessel that's only a touch smaller than say the Orca (Mining vessels have never been big) but also a lot of skills like Exhumers V, Spaceship Command V, Capital Skills, and a new skill for it. I think going from a Hulk to a Massive Capital ship is a little bit of a large jump so making a step between it would be nice. I just can't imagine 5 of them in a belt without thinking there wouldn't be enough room. Mining ships should be like a small swarm of drones around a capital ship. Hulks are too small, I agree, and they are outdated and getting a little left behind. They could nerf Hulks to implement this without it being a game breaker but I am sure that would make the high sec miners a little angry . Not sure about how to balance the skills off without taking away the rolls of other ships really. I like the idea but the cargo hold needs to be small (Compared to other ships the same size, perhaps due to all the advanced processing required?)
I don't feel there is any need to create a bigger mining laser than the Strip Miner's for this either but I do feel that increasing the high slots to 5 (Maybe 6 if the yield increase from skills isn't too great) would balance the ship out. It'd pull more than a Hulk, cost about 4x as much to produce, seems fair. As EVE gets bigger so do the mineral requirements and so should the ships used to collect these. I also feel that the ship should just be about harvesting and leave the ore compression and massive cargo holds to other ships. Mining should be a multiple stage job. Making a ship that can do it all is cheating IMO.
I don't feel planet mining makes much sense unless you want to make a ship with a single high slot for a "Planet Mining Array" which would look much like a moon mining laser attached to a ship and would require your ship to be deployed, etc. Far too complected while there are far better things that could be added to make mining better. The idea of going from a Hulk to a Mobile Mining Platform seems a little extreme in my opinion but I do support the idea for a new ship.
Come up with a more balanced version and it'll get my stamp of approval. Something that can increase the mineral flow without unbalancing it would be much loved by many people.
Good work none the less!

i think this ship should not be able to mining planets but be a belt ****r of low to null sec. so it would not be able to target any thing but roids and it would not be able to mine roids unless it was 2 km in frount of it so you would need a new tratore beam that takes up a high slot. in short it can **** asteroids but it needs friends to go and get the asteroid for it and not able to defended its self. and yes it would mine faster then a hulk and no it would not be able to mine planets. <a href="https://eve-search.com/externalLink.asp?l=http%3A%2F%2Frumandmonkey%2Ecom%2Fwidgets%2Ftoys%2Ftestgen%2F6199%2F"><img src="http://stat.rumandmonkey.com/tests/9/9/6199/25764.jpg" title="Industrialist with teeth" alt="Industrialist with teeth" border="0" |
