Edited by: The B055 on 29/12/2009 09:49:59 Edited by: The B055 on 29/12/2009 09:49:22 I've got the ROCCAT Kone and the ROCCAT Valo, both of which have some capability of creating customisable macros for simulating mouse clicks or keyboard presses, Im wondering what CCP's stance is on using the macro ability of these items in EVE.
I know that using a third-party macro to mine/mission on its own is bad, however I was thinking of situations such as activating all modules in a single key/button rather than pressing them all individually, and other shortcuts. Is that still within the rules?
Cheers in advance ________________________ You successfully mined this asteroid, unfortunatly there was nothing to be mined |

CONDUCT A. Specifically Restricted Conduct Your continued access to the System and license to play the Game is subject to proper conduct. Without limiting CCP's rights to control the Game environment, and the conduct of the players within that environment, CCP prohibits the following practices that CCP has determined detract from the overall user experience of the users playing the Game:
1. You may not take any action that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on the System. 2. You may not use your own or third-party software to modify any content appearing within the Game environment or change how the Game is played. 3. You may not use macros or other stored rapid keystrokes or other patterns of play that facilitate acquisition of items, currency, objects, character attributes, rank or status at an accelerated rate when compared with ordinary Game play. You may not rewrite or modify the user interface or otherwise manipulate data in any way to acquire items, currency, objects, character attributes or beneficial actions not actually acquired or achieved in the Game.

Obviously, this does not apply. You're not modifying any content.

I underlined the part that would make me think its allowed. All said macro would do is make it easier - you're still there, you're still playing the game.

Edited by: Chaos Incarnate on 29/12/2009 10:21:31 I had heard secondhandedly from a GM that things like Autohotkey and Hotkeynet and so forth aren't a problem, so long as you're not automating gameplay _____________________ Horrors! Demons in the deep! |

Edited by: Nika Dekaia on 29/12/2009 10:33:16 The use of a G 15 keyboard is 100% OK. So a program doing just that (saving you some klicks) should be OK as well as long as it does not do any more complex tasks for you.

Should be fine if its a keyboard or mouse. If it isnt doing complex tasks like mining and moving to a cargo container then I assume they won't be fussed at all about it. The biggest one I have going is a simple mouse button I have chosen to target enemies using one of these microsoft clicks macro's. You obviously just hover it over whom you want to target. Its infact really lazy and only cuts down on you using your left hand to hold control but can be useful :).

Using a macro key to activate collections of modules : Okay Using a macro to automate anything, ANYTHING : Badness ______________________________________________
