If hiring dust marines is all we can do, its really not going to work.. Id really like to know more about the game and what Eve players can do besides Hire soldiers.. Can we at least be apart of the war in dust ? like have shuttles and do bombing runs and airstrikes? It would be a better and bigger game. Eve is fine as it is, but adding more content like visiting planets helping the War on planets doing airstrikes and so forth would really be a BIG and better game......and dont move this to another section either.

*for EVE players*
If CCP is trying to broaden their brands, then DUST could be a great success while being both a game and platform that is not of interest to the overwhelming majority of EVE players. My guess is that CCP is initially much more focused on people who don't like EVE enough to play it, than those of us who do. If its not a good console game, then its integration with EVE won't be enough to same it.
Later on, I am sure they would like some synergy. |

I'm sure there is a large percentage of eve players who already have either a 360 or ps3 so getting in on the fun will be as easy as buying the game and playing. Tbh I think we will see plenty of alliances both large and small having an 'in-house' army so to speak as that will be the best way to insure you keep the planets under your sov umbrella nice and productive without having to rely on some random merc force. A merc force that has no allegiance to your alliance past how much isk you toss at them I might add so you may find them turning around and assaulting the same planet they just won if the price is right.

Moved to Out Of Pod from EVE General. The DUST article is pretty good.

Jjit summed it up very well.
DUST 514 is not made for EVE players. It's made for a new market.
Would EVE benefit from us being able to influence ground battles? Yes. Would DUST benefit from that? No. It would be an absolute nightmare to balance, and it would essentially allow players from one game to grief players of another - not a great marketing move, considering that EVE is a game that more or less encourages griefing. -----

1. Mercenaries and auxiliaries are at once useless and dangerous, and he who holds his State by means of mercenary troops can never be solidly or securely seated.
2. Mercenaries and auxiliaries are disunited, ambitious, insubordinate, treacherous, insolent among friends and cowardly before foes.
3. Without fear of God or faith with man, whenever they fight they are sure to be beaten; so that in peace you are plundered by them, in war by your enemies. (Sound familiar?)
4. The cause of which is that mercenaries have no tie or motive to keep them in the field beyond their paltry pay (not paltry these days) in return for which it would be too much to expect them to give their lives.
5. They are ready enough to be your soldiers while you are at peace, but when war is declared they make off and disappear.
6. Captains of mercenaries are either able men or they are not. If they are, you cannot trust them, since they will always seek their own aggrandizement, either by overthrowing you who are their master or by the overthrow of others contrary to your desire.
7. On the other hand, if your captain be not an able man you are sure to be undone.
