I am tempted to buy a rattlesnake.
The ships I mostly fly are Golem, Nighthawk & Gallente cap ships.
I find the tanking aspects of this ship appealing but apart from going on the test server & finding out for myself I thought I'd ask the experts on the forum- what will be the differences between flying this ship & lets say a Golem or RNI.
I have good tank, missile & reasonable drone skills.
The most important question is if you already fly Golem or similar ships will anything be more noticeable about flying a rattler?

Rattle is not for lvl 4s. It's either good for something that needs an insane tank like say lvl 5s, or some high-end plexes... or pvp.
It's basically a quad-rep domi that doesn't need any cap and can fire torps. - If you find the post above offensive feel free to feel offended. |

Rattler has nothing to do with the golem or CNR. It's basicly a super-shieldtank dominix.
If you want a super-tanky raven-style missile boat, take a Navy Scorpion.

I like the Rattlesnake simply because it is passive. It is not the fastest mission runner but I like using drones and I like the passive so I use it for that reason.
If ALL you care about is speed Golem is probably the way to go, if you want a mixture of ease and speed then the CNR, and if you want simply ease then the Rattlesnake.

No, it seems that it *ALL* you care about is mission speed, then the CNR is far and away the better bet. If you want a mixture of ease/speed/salvage/loot then you want a Golem. You pretty much never want a Rattler unless you're wanting to do some crazy passive tanking (L5, Plex, PVP, etc).

What Liang said covers it pretty well. The RS is a nice ship for a specific job, and this job is doing l5s solo (dont want to speak about PvP or higher Plexes since I am not an expert there).
It can be set up to be a pretty strong passive tank, and its weapon systems dont use cap either. Besides its able to do damage semi-afk.

rattler is just lazy cuz of the passiveness
fastest missioner is the CNR
most isk/hour is the golem
