Edited by: Jehannnum on 12/12/2009 18:00:45 Hi Guys,
Does anyone have any advice for the loadout for a class 2 WH POS.
I was thinking,
Fitting information for Tower 1 (Amarr Control Tower Medium) at a location not specified.
Structure (Status) Corporate Hangar Array (Online) Medium Beam Laser Battery (Online) Medium Beam Laser Battery (Online) Medium Pulse Laser Battery (Online) Medium Pulse Laser Battery (Online) Photon Scattering Array (Online) Ship Maintenance Array (Online) Stasis Webification Battery (Online) Warp Disruption Battery (Online)
Would that be enough to deter the average random WH gankers?
I was thinking Amarr as I dont need to worry about ammo. Would other races be more of a deterent?

You still need crystals for the lasers. In a C2, the most you're going to see is a few T3 cruisers or a couple battleships. If you plan on a lot of mining you might want another corp hanger.

Edited by: Red lensman on 12/12/2009 19:50:17 instead of using a corp hangar use a x-large ship asembley array as it holds 18.5M m3 rather than 1.4M m3 and mining in a class 2 can as mining ABCM ore take up a load of storeage space and you can build capital's and bs's

Bah, get a large. That's what decides it for any attacking force, is the EHP of the tower and how long it'll take them. It has little to do with the guns.
And you are guranteed to outgrow a medium before you know it, and doing a tower swap with loads of gear in place is no fun. -- Terminal Impact is recruiting PVPers for fun ops in lowsec/0.0/wormhole space. Visit our website or join ingame channel "the tict pub". |

Hmm,
What type of stuff can I put in the XL ship assembly array?
Its more of a bolt hole when things are a little unsafe. I did get jumped the other night lost my ship, logged in my pod with agression timer and lost my pod. Has to spend an hour scanning down a WH to empire in a cloaked orca.....
I think a large might be too much for me to maintain solo.

Hi,
As long as you have some shield hardners, and few guns for a Class 2 pos, you are safe. People don't bother attacking an online pos in a Class 2 WH with bs, a meduim pos will be enough unless you are planning refine the ore or do some reactions. Put atleast couple of hangers but only 1 online other offline to save on fuel. BTW nice name Jehannnun, I hope WH doesn't turn out to be one for you.

good advice...how long does a XLSA take to online? I use a second/third corp hangar so i can offline it while i mine and online it when i go pick up the hauler to haul all at once and drop it in and put it back offline...save that little bit of fuel :P

Needs ECM. Put like 4 of each type. Get some extra guns too, have them offline. 16 jammers means nobody will bother attacking you, it'd take forever unless they somehow managed to put up a pos and build a dread in your system.

Edited by: Qulbeg Khan on 14/12/2009 16:40:53 Its Vital to get to know your Static WH's.
After a few days in, you will learn which are the static worm holes into your slice of W-Space. If your wormholes are on the larger side (for a Class 2), you will have a jump mass of 300KT and a limit of 2000KT.
If they are on the small side... 300KT and 750KT.
An Orca has a mass of 250KT. So for a small hole .. a trip out and back is 500 of the 750 KT ... so really only 1 round trip is possible.
For the large holes.. 2000KT... 500KT for a return trip - you can safely make 3 trips, push your luck for 4.
This dictates how much ore you can move out in a single hauling session.
Then get to know where the holes go .. High sec? Low Sec? Another Class 2?
This tells you how likely you are to have a "safe" route out of the system. If its high sec .. almost every Wh is safe for your Orca.. if its low sec .. 1 every 3 days.. maybe 1 a week.
This is important, as it will let you estimate how much ore you can shift in any given week.
If you have large holes to High sec, then you could shift up to 4 Orca loads per day. Just be wary that an Orca is a sitting duck each time it jumps back into the WH.
If your holes are primarily small, and low sec, then you may have trouble finding a safe route out to sell ore at all. It could be as bad as one Orca load per week.
Now .. work backwards. 1 Orca holds around 5 cans of ore (depending on your skill level). 1 can of ore = 20 mins of mining in a solo Hulk (roughly)
4 Orca's per day = 4 x 5 cans = 20 cans = 6hrs 40mins of mining per day. And then you'll need an alt on the outside to haul it further.. probably in a Freighter, or refine and haul in another Orca or even an Industrial.
1 Orca per week = 5 cans per week.. less than 20mins mining per day is all you can do or you will mine more than you can haul.
If you are mining more than you can haul, then you have few choices.
- Stockpile and hope. Save the problem for later, and make sure you have a lot of storage space.
- Build a Rorqual. (You can't fly one in or out of a Class 2 Hole, so you need to get a billion ISK worth of ore and build it into a ship that you will eventually leave behind) Rorq's are smart for high Class WH's where you can move one around, but not so good for a Class 2.
- Refine. This means a 25% cut in your sales .. but it does mean that you can mine continuously and ship out as soon as you get a safe exit. An Orca load of Arknor refines to around 2500-3000 m3 of minerals (in a POS). You could fly a small load that size safely through Low Sec in a cloaked Blockade Runner. Three, maybe four trips in that and you have around about 10 Orca loads moved more than double the fast rate listed above of 4 Orca trips per day.
The 25% loss will be quickly covered by the fact that you do not need to stop mining once your storage is full.
So you will Refine? ok, not the best choice, but the wisest for class 2..... so a Medium Intensive refines 25000 m3 in 5400s ... 1 can per hour and a half.. and your Hulk fills a can in 20 mins. This is a major bottle neck.
A Large Intensive refines 200,000 m3 in 3 hours, whilst you mine around 250,000 in 3 hours. If you take into account hauling ... then its about even. So the Large refining array can handle the throughput from a SINGLE hulk. Not to mention that you can be refining whilst mining, or logged off, so it will keep up no worries and could probably support 2 hulks.
Work backwards one more step.
The Large Intensive .. needs a large tower to power it.
So, there you have it, if you can afford it ... Go large!
If you want to WH mine ... Large Tower, Large Intensive Refining Array.
