OK, I'm up to Heavy Pulse Laser Specialization I and i'm Queued up to go as far as IV for now. It gives a 2% bonus per level I have Surgical Strike and other assorted goodies to increase the DMG as well and with Mega Pulse II I'm at 5.91 which is pretty freaking sweet IMO.
Does that mean at II it will be 6.02? at III 6.14? at IV 6.27?
If this is a true statement those 83 million ISK Pulses that run at base 3.75 vs the 3.6 of the T2 are starting to look more and more like a nice addition to my Abbadon.

im not sure if this is the answer you are looking for but the SPEC skill only applies to T2 guns, meaning that (83m --> faction?) guns will not be affected by the 2% per level bonus.
otherwise stated simple: t2>faction guns after you get the spec skill to IV-V |

It's all multiplicative between bonuses, but a single skill is not multiplicative with itself.
Base damage multiplier * (1 + 0.05 * skill level in Large Energy Weapons) * (1 + 0.02 * Large Pulse Laser specialization) * (1 + 0.03 * Surgical Strike level)
In your case, with a MPL II, it's 3.6 * 1.25 * 1.02 * 1.12 (assuming surgical strike IV) = 5.1408 (you're probably looking at your damage modifier with heat sinks and ship bonuses on top of that)
With the spec skill up to 4, it becomes 3.6 * 1.25 * 1.08 * 1.12 = 5.4432, which is not a linear 6% increase because you already had the 2%. |

Not sure where you went wrong, but yes you will be at 6.03(not 6.02), 6.14 and then 6.26(note not 6.27). I'm guessing you had some rounding errors and multiplied the bonuses internally as the poster right above said.
As an anectdote the rule of T2 > Faction occurs at spec 3 for guns, however not missiles, which sort of balances itself for missiles as the cap use and fitting is noticeably lower for faction than t2. The real gain for t2 guns over faction - aside from price possibly- is the ability to use t2 ammo. |

That makes perfect sense and it sounds like I made a solid choice. Lrg Pulse Spec will be Level IV in 5d, and I overlooked my BS trainign a lil bit in my rush to T2 weapons. I need to move it up to IV (five more days) as well which nets another 5%! Its looking like I should end out around 6.57 approx in about ten days give or take 12h or so.
Now you just gotta love that, well unless you're in my crosshairs!
