I was playing with a Blackbird setup in EFT. From what I gather, ECM falloff not only affects how far out you can jam. But also how close you can jam. So say if you fitted 3 mods "Medium Particle Dispersion Projector I' which increase the ECM falloff 20%. Does this affect the falloff on how close they can be as well?
12km is closest jam range from what I remember (Multi-Spec II's), if this was increased 40% not counting stacking penalties that would put it to where? ------------------|o|------------------

Nope. Not how close.
Optimal = Jams at full strength.
Optimal + 1 * Falloff = Jams at half (?) strength.
Optimal + 2 * Falloff = Jams at zero strength.

so whats the minimum hit ratio normally? For say 12k=?, 25k=?, 40=100%
And would it actually be better to run ECM on a normal cruiser to get 8-12k jammy jam so you dont get so much BB bonus optimal? Then just add ECM strength Multi's? A Moa with Multi Jam II's optimal is 21+24k, what would be the minimum jam on this? ------------------|o|------------------

Eh? First post said it. Up to and including optimal = 100% strength. There is no "minimum range". _________________________

People have this odd idea that falloff somehow affects things within optimal, it doesn't.

Well I can sort of see how the confusion arises because close in with guns tracking starts to be an issue.
But ECM doesn't have tracking, so.
Also, multispecs are terrible. Use racials.

I believe it works like guns.
At optimal or closer: 100% chance of ECM being applied THEN Jam Strength/Sensor Strength of target.
At optimal + falloff: 50% chance of ECM mod completly missing THEN Jam Strength/Sensor Strength of target.
At optimal + 2falloff or more: 0% chance of jam working do to range.
So you can "miss" with ECM before the chance based system is even applied.

Im almost dead sure theres a minimum jam range. So your telling me I can be within web/scram range plus get 100% ECM hit. I could then fit optimal mods and hit from 100k all the way to 0k... EFT doesnt have a range setting, and experts in FW have told me otherwise. So Im not really sure ------------------|o|------------------

Don't blame us.
Yes, we are telling you that.
You can hit out past whatever your optimal is too, it's just your jam strength reduces.

Turn on tactical overlay, hover over the mod.
It will show you what you want to know.

As far as I know there is no minimum jam range. The only time you have 100% chance to jam is if the target is within optimal AND (jammer's jam strength > target's sensor strength)
As the target gets beyond optimal your jam strength doesn't decrease but your chance of a succesful jam falls FAST.
IMO EFT sucks

When I first hopped into a newb ship with a railgun, I couldn't understand why I could hit targets outside optimal, but not inside optimal. I didn't know about tracking at that time, or how poor railguns are at tracking, so I blamed it on optimal. I know better now.
