Apologies if this is the wrong section, but its really more of a generalized question rather than a specific Tech question.
In a few months time I am expecting to be away from home and my PC for at least 9 weeks, so I've begun considering buying a netbook so that I can keep up with skill training. So I'm curious if anyone else has done this and what they're experiences have been?
Also, any recommendations?

Ive got an acer netbook. As far as eve goes it actually goes off the screen. the largest resolution for the computer is not large enough for the smallest resolution of eve. but as far as skill training goes and market changes it is fine. Just don't plan on undocking and fighting on a netbook.

I use an EEEPC 1005HA, and Eve happily runs along at about 15fps. More when i'm in empty space.
I've participated in a few WH mining ops on it quite successfully.

ive got a netbook and it runs 1 client ok atm about 10- 15 fps. i have tried the sisi client with it and thats another story
my top tip tho is to use logmein.com that way u can use your home pc to play eve the graphics are crappy but its alot more responsive. and u can use multiple clients.

I have an "emergency" Netbook. Acer ZG5
I use it for Skills, Trade & Mining. The screen resolution does not allow for other things as one would be at a MAJOR disadvantage in a fight...
The EVE Client runs just fine though |

Its just that when I need a netbook is when I've joined the RAF and doing basic training, despite having secure lockers I'm a little wary of taking a laptop and much rather take a netbook thats both cheaper and hopefully less likely to be stolen. Either way it'll be 3 weeks in before I can actually get one either way, so I'll probably see what my fellow recruits are doing.
Thanks to anyone else for their suggestions, I'll have a look at each recommendations. Thank you.

I've got an asus eeepc 901, runs EVE terribly (6-7 fps IIRC), but well enough to change skills.

I'm running eve on medium settings quite well on my HP 311c.
I wouldn't PvP on it unless I had to but for trading, hauling and such (even running missions would work tbh) it's great.

I have attempted to make the resolution work. But really the only stuff that gets chopped off is the corp hanger button and anything down there. It works for me. Plays it well enough. You wouldn't want to take it into heavy combat though... ________________________________________________
