Ok I come onto the forums and I look at a post and theres a link in it, maybee its a screen shot, maybee its a video or something, and as soon as i click it it directs me to a page giving me a warning!, I am really sick of this stupid crap, because as soon as it comes up I go oh yeah thats ****in anoying and click back, so i never look at links.
Please remove this im a grown up and smart enough to determine if a link is good enough for me to click or not I dont need CCP watching over my back.

Oh you are, but apparently most aren't. Thus warning remains. I guess.

Think of it as a moron tax the intelligent minority have to pay. Yeah, it's annoying, but it's 1 click. I'd rather have that than a forum full of whine threads that CCP allows dishonest links on their forums.

Clicking forwards takes just as much effort as clicking back. I'm confused. -----

The Firefox addon is called Greasemonkey. And the script can be found here.

Clicking forwards takes just as much effort as clicking back. I'm confused.
To close a tab it takes me only to press CTRL+W. To click a link on a page it requires me to move my mouse and then click.
Which takes more/less effort?
Oh and if i'm forcing everything into one tab, so it doesn't open in a new tab or window, its simply a matter of pressing my mouse's back thumb button at any time with firefox as focus.
But yeah, i use greasemonkey and the script above anyway so its all moot. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Its standard procedure for all all videogame forums these days without the amount of keylogger spam that is proliferating the majority of boards.

I was replying to the OP, who specifically called it clicking, not closing the tab. I agree that it's easy to hit the back-button on your mouse if you have it, but at the same time there's only a fraction of more effort to click the link to the content.
If the OP doesn't want to follow the links, that his/her/its choice, but all I'm saying is that if you want to reach the content there is nothing preventing you. -----

Here's the real issue here. Now, pay attention, this is important:
You are not the only person on this frakking planet!
I'll say it again, it's important:
YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PERSON ON THIS FRAKKING PLANET!
Guess you weren't around when all the keylogger posts were happening, and these Forums were filled with innumerable whines about account haxors, various sex sites, and other bullcarp.
Whether or not the Almighty YOU were smart enough not to click on 'em, others were. Causing a LOT of problems and petition overload for CCP in having to deal with both the flooded Foriums AND the innumerable petitions over hacked accounts.
That little post delay in effect disabled the spambots flooding the Forums, AND reduced the petition count, allowing for better respose times for everyone involved. That's worth a little delay between posts, at least if you're not a self-centered 2-year old emotionally.
So HTFU and deal with it. Just like most laws, it's a small price to pay. Or at least STFU - your whine is neither original nor is it even rational - just the online equivalent of a temper tantrum.
Grow up.

I'm not so sure. I think his is a put down of someone in response to their apparent lack of insight or empathy for others.

Eh, ignore him -= he calls himself Captain Pompous for a reason, after all - it's quite descriptive
'Course, other people are polite and leave the REST of the phrase off...

WFT.
I have a feeling the OP would be a lot more annoyed if they lost their account to some keylogger instead of actually having to read the URL they are about to go to.

Op reminds me of people who demand the 'right' to not wear seatbelts then fully expect others to clean up their mess when they take flying lessons through their car windscreen.
5 minute delay and the warning are minor annoyances compared to the benefit of the lack of spam and others not getting key logged.

People need to realize that the concept of trust that they are familiar with in real life also applies to the internet. This is not a problem that requires intellect. This is not a problem that requires technological savvy. This is a problem that requires banging two neurons together.
People don't give their PIN number to strangers, yet they happily give their passwords to any site that asks for it. They don't let random people mess with their car, yet they will install any random crap they find on the internet.
Most people understand that privacy is technology agnostic. You wouldn't give private data to someone you met in person, so you wouldn't do it over the telephone. Why would the internet be any different?
People hide behind virus scanners, firewalls and their technological ignorance. But they need to realize this is not a technological problem, not being technologically savvy is not an excuse for blindly trusting everything.
"Don't install software from untrusted sources" and "Don't give out private data to random websites". These two simple rules are part of every "computers for dummies" book. Every time a 'security expert' gives an interview on TV these two things are mentioned. I recently received a brochure from my bank about 'internet security' that mentions these things. There is absolutely no reason to not know this. Not applying these rules is practice is just being an idiot.
Anyway, to be constructive. CCP probably won't remove these messages if only for their 'I told you so' value. Why not make this a setting like 'Show Images' and 'Show signatures', that is by default turned off.

{attempting to be gentle here}
Now, consider the type of people who you just wrote about - those that blindly trust.
Now, cosider that you want the default for the local protective measure - the possible trojan warning - to be OFF by default.
That is equivalent to not having it at all, because not one of the "blind trusters" would think to go into the forum options and turn it on.
So you'd condemn us all to the same situation that existed before the Trojan warning AND the post timers were put in - once again we'd get the keylogger spam, and CCP would again get flooded with petitions about haxored accounts et al. Just to avoid flexing your wrist a bit and clicking a link.
Way To Go You. Real Smart, this.
{hint: Not really}.
On a side note: JUST HOW DAMN LAZY ARE YOU?
