First of all a simple question: was 0.0 was created for ratting or PVP?
I recall that some time ago one of the devs stated that solo/small gang PVP will be boosted. Unfortunately, this statement was forgotten. From my point of view solo/small gang (2-3 ppl) have no real options in eve because of current state of affair in EVE mechanics.
Despite of the fact that space in EVE is vast and enormous PVP in EVE is centered around gates and other celestial objects.
It is important to understand that PVP is usually avaliable only in hostile environment, where you have to face enemy intel, blobs, poses... But what makes it worse is the mechanics of EVE itself.
Gates - lets spoil the fun or the ultimate anti-pvp device. Gates are the most common place of engagement, but there are no actual means to tie enemy in the combat. Your enemy always has the option of going back if he wishes to do so: aggrotimers, logoffski... For isntance: -in case if you catch a BS (unarmed, no scout support), have no real opportunty to stop him from jumping back. Even in a ceptor. -in case if you find yourself in a trap - no hope of survival: aggrotimer prevents you from jumping away.
Local to be or not to be? Simply put: local sucks ass. Why? Several reasons. Local is an instrument of intel but is used as such. 100% option to see the enemy before you even scan him - 0 chance of sneaky tactics. What is the most used tool that afk ratters use? ("WAR on isk sellers"? Srsly guys?) Cmon guys, you know the answer.... (tip: starts with "loc", ends with "cal")
TLDR: EVE mechanics is against solo/small gang pvp, which sucks ass. Please fix it. The "big why"? Mkay... There is no 0.0. Should be? My guess - HELL YEAH!!! KILL EM ALL - LET THE GOD SORT EM OUT!!!
CCP your move?
Small disclaimer. Non PVPers please refrain from writing in this thread. I know you think you won EVE by fitting a drake that can tank 99999 dps.

Edited by: Thera Romana on 05/11/2009 15:30:11 First, try wormholes for pvp, no local.....and pvp there still usually revolves around one of the wormholes. Wormholes would be a good place for you to go to, and then make suggestions on the pvp side.
Second, local is a double edged sword, not only do they get to see you, but you them. Without local, roaming gangs would have to scan every system just to see if there was anything in it. In big systems directional scan will not show you everything in system, depending on where the gate is, so your going to need probes. The game for 0.0 pvp is cat and mouse.
You jump into system, and pop up on local, the game is can they safe up, before you scan them down. I know many a gang who have gotten very fast at dividing up and attacking systems.
If you can't catch miners/BS ratters in a belt as is, you really need to work on your skills. Exception would be those systems with like 20 belts, they are a pain in the butt, to catch someone, but thats the game.
IF you drop local, your time between pvp encounters will actually become longer, not shorter. Just think how many systems you just zoom through because local is empty, no local you would have to scan each one.

so u dont understan me, and main idea of topic. Today lockal = intel, its wrong. Use local to scouting its too casual and not logical.

Gates, If you can't kill a Battleship before it can walk 15km back to the gate... You are simply using insufficient amounts of DPS.
Local is very powerful intel gathering tool... But it's kind of required for the ratters, to give them an honest chance. |

Scanner, align to, using a HAC, 100km safes on every belt (whoever thought it'd be smart for rats to spawn relative to the player warping into the belt, jesus christ). There's really no excuse for getting caught ratting, ever.
