This is the un-official archive for all the issues we the players want in planetary interaction. Citizens of New Eden. EvE is at a turning point, one that will define it's success from the sleeper classic of 300k dedicated persons we know and love to something with a much bigger draw. With this allure will come a newer fanbase, one far more accustomed to different, more static and repetitive, MMORPGs. Some might say the biggest game changer will be Incarna, some might say DUST 514, but for those of us who believe it's going to be planetary interaction, speak now and have your voices heard. I remember the old familar sandbox feel of EvE when I started playing years ago, from another title, SWG, it's diverse player driven market, the freedom of choice, and most of all the individualism, the individualism that while present in the higher end of industrial theatre, has been overshadowed by more socially driven endeavors, such as fleets. One way I hope this is addressed is by the implementation of vested interest in renewable assets. I'm sure many of you remember the glories of prospecting and the veritable fields of player owned silos and mines, all perfectly accessable in other games. With planetary interaction we expect this same amount of renewable and steady reward of income from many aspects of building planets. This would encourage a massive new profession, trade between worlds. 1. COLONIES; The steps Dominion has taken on the look of planets are great. We want that polish to reflect in our industrial endeavors of colonizing planets. We want to be able to survey planets for the best sites for civilization to take root.
Keeping with the corporate, ownership driven theme of the game, nuture these colonies on barren, almost inhospitable worlds from terra-forming, to planetary infrastructure to harness the resources all player owned planets contain, as well as trade these resources in sybiosis with other worlds lacking, or otherwise desiring resources at their unique location. Most of us want to own a planet, have a permanent home to base our activites. We want to control the destiny of not only industrial and mining efforts on these colonies, but also the manufacturing powers that worlds can provide, in military and space productions and yield of unique ore content on each world. We want each planet to have a unique population with hunger needs, oxygen and fuel needs, commodity needs, all to be harnessed as man-power, taxed, and who's weath can be shared across corporations and across alliances. 2. ORBITAL BOMBARDMENT; Yes we want this 3. POLITICS; We want our planets to not go down without a fight should they be struck by an orbital bombardment. We want them to have views towards pod pilots, and direct asylum accordingly, as well as maintain planetary defense fleets and turrets.
Add to my suggestions or continue the chain of what is not only a wishlist, but what we feel is best for the game.

If this is the edited version, I'm glad I never saw the original.
In any case, I'm pretty sure any level of planetary interaction that CCP wants to pursue is just fine with me.
That being said, the last thing this game needs is another endless stream of income for industrialist players that shun social activity. Industrialists are fine, but when some nob is running around in an officer fitted faction ship on his hops between monopolizing station build/research ques, it kinda irks me. I've been around long enough to know that this is the way things are, but lets not encourage it any more than we have to. ______________________________________________ Goon FC(08/12/06):"its a trap" "that thing is fully operational" |
