If keeping your PVP Character supplied is your focus, would it make more sense to just train up Carrier? I know it canĘt even come close in terms of volume of cargo, but how many Ships (BSs or BCs) can be transported via Carrier? And a Carrier can be used for other things. Having not flown either ship, I donĘt claim to know the pros and cons. At short glance, it just seems that the JFs have huge cargo capabilities, but not much in the way defense. And Carriers are more limited in Cargo capabilities, but have more in the way of defense. So for trying to make a profit by moving items around, it seems that a JF is gamble big, win big route. And a Carrier might be more useful if your main concern is moving smaller amounts of items around to supply your PVP character.

My specific point was: don't listen to people who would rather give offhand remarks that imply that your question is stupid or you wouldn't have to ask.

I have never taken more than a couple of hours to deliver a package. Speed is great; unless you have to complete a route multiple times because you don't have the cargo space. With a freighter, your profit is in incredibly high volume. You can afford to make less per unit profit because you can move greater volumes faster than anyone else. That makes you more competitive overall.

I would and have and so have many others. It is the combination of freighting and trading that makes it incredibly profitable. You would be amazed at the volume of private courier contracts out there. They pay much better than the public ones and are virtually risk-free. When you combine those with trading, you've always got something to do and money to make. It IS isk intensive at the outset, but it pays off quickly.

You're playing with fire. The smartbombs I was mentioning was a reference to how being cloaked would do you no good once you got bubbled, since they don't have to target you to kill you.
A well tanked indy could survive a gank... by a solo pirate. If you're flying with a billion in your hold, the pirates can take you down with two or three well ganked ships and still make a very tidy profit. My point isn't that it isn't possible to fit an indy well, simply that they will always do the math and figure out how many people they need to kill you. Don't forget passive targeting; you won't know when you're being scanned. An interceptor with sensor boosters can instalock you and the scan takes less than 5 seconds to complete, all possible before you align to the next gate. If and when it does go down, it will be while you are aligning to a gate. Not only will you be locked and attacked, you'll be bumped off your alignment.

True, but man JF's are expensive.

Red Frog Freight will happily transport you and your freight to that location for a small fee. |

Is it worth it? Nope.
Would I buy it again? Yep.

I use my freighter to slow-boat my Eve lives around from one place to another. For example, parking up at a favourite mission spot, or wherever I decide to hang out. It's so much easier to pack up all your kit into one space and move it around than to leave your stuff all over the place and have to find and fetch it if you need it. The exception to this rule is low sec and 0.0. Although I once slow boated an Obelisk through HED-GP and all the way into Immensea (with an alt scouting head!), selling it there when I arrived, I wouldn't recommend taking one anywhere Concord aren't ;).
I used to buy a freighter for a move then sell it again when I was done. These days I just keep one handy all the time, even though it's rarely used, just in case.

If you are a hardcore mission runner, scoop your loot, dump it into a freighter and sell it at the nearest hub when it's full.
