Apart from loot/salvage, the isk from npc bounties & agent rewards are static. The Eve economy is subject to inflation.
Does this mean that mission runners are both a cause & victim of inflation?
Over time, will mission runners see less value return for their efforts?
Any insight into this matter would be appreciated.
Cheers.

When ships are blown up, people emorage quit, sales tax, etc., isk is removed from the system. But I doubt that that is enough to counter mission running inflation.
Doesn't CCP have an economist on staff? Couldn't they tell us what the inflation rate is?

Remember the other reward from mission running- Loyalty Points, which usually require isk to purchase items from a LP store.
For lvl 4 missions with approximately 6k LP per high quality mission, you're looking at potentially 6 million isk being evaporated. For lvl 5 missions with huge amounts of LP, the net result may even be deflationary.
Other than that, there have been many threads about this subject. The consensus: everything is fine . |

Mission runners would be no more a victim of inflation than anyone else. According to the last econ dev blog, the last several years have been rather strong periods of deflation - only recently (since the Moongate scandal) has Eve as a whole entered a period of slight inflation.
Yes, they have an economist on staff and he blogs quarterly about the state of the Eve economy. Very interesting reading - even for a market plebe like me (that is to say, I do nothing more than right-click-sell and right-click-buy).

Even when a significant portion of reward is static in terms of isk reward?
If I were an industrialist producing items, the isk value would adjust with inflation. However, mission runners do not receive such an adjustment on bounties etc.
I'd just like to point out I'm not complaining about the situation -just trying to better understand it.

Only the rat bounties are static - which according to the sources I've read only accounts for about a third of what a mission runner makes.

So would any items/minerals generated in missions - such as meta 4 lasers, or implants/items from the LP store.

1. Mission runners are not the cause of the inflation, they are a part of an overall game mechanic that has devaluation of the money through inflation. 2. The end result of inflationary practices is the reduced buying power of existing value. Not everything will cost more, because market demand still affects the price of an item, like a glut of Domis for example, but big ticket items will inflate in price when their value is pegged to resources.
