hi i have recently gotten tech2 small blasters and wanted to replace my caldari navy antimatter s with void s.
but there i noticed that on the paper, the advantages of void s seem to be evened out by its disadvantages, compared to faction ammo.
navy antimatter: less damage than void s half the optimal range compared to void s double the tracking speed compared to void s double the falloff range compared to vois s
void s: higher damage doubled optimal range halfed falloff range halfed tracking speed
this is all on the paper though. can anyone tell me which is the more effective ammunition in practise?
thx in advance for any answers

Void = Fail, unless you're trying to attack a dread.

so, i take it that the halfed tracking speed does make a huge difference?
and another question: is null S any better?

Null is almost as good as multifreq

That deserves to be quoted. =====

Using void essentially shifts your "viable target list" upwards one step: if you load small guns with it, your viable targets now start at cruisers (or possibly Destroyers); if you load medium guns with it, you can only effectively engage battleships (or possibly battlecruisers). Load large guns with it, and you'd better home someone brought a whole pile of webs to keep the target from moving about too much…
…but if those conditions are met, it's much nicer than faction ammo. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

thanks for all the answers, special thanks to tippia for this insightful info. The summary of it all to me is as following:
Its a good thing to have BOTH ammunitions with me. Im gonna use it for my w-space ishkur or enyo, and im gonna load my fac tion ammo for the frigates, and the void s for anything larger. Sooooo, void s apparently does have a good use. And im gonna make use of it, at least im gonna try to

I've used 10's of thousands of Void S in my Enyo for FW lvl 4's.
Infinatly cheeper then Navy ammo for PvE usage. /join Cheeze & Whine Club

In pvp you'll be flying around with navy AM or Null loaded usually. This mostly depends on how you personally like it. Anyways, changing to Void then takes 10 seconds which feels like an eternity. Thus after a while you'll probably just skip it and hardly use Void ever. Even against targets big enough for Void the small damage advantage ain't worth the 10 seconds of waiting. With navy AM you can maneuver more yourself without messing up your own DPS too.
Void used to be somewhat decent when webbifiers had a 90% effect. Nowadays it's completely broken, because the 50% tracking penalty is horrible at such close distances. ---- Sarmaul's crosstrainorgtfo |
