Basically, at 00:00 on Friday GMT that would be 8:00 PM Thursday night. (New York)

GMT is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST) and 4 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
Right now we're on EDT until we set the clocks back to EST. ("Spring forward. Fall back.").
12 - 4 = 8am EDT 17 - 4 = 1pm EDT

If GMT is Zulu time then 12:00 - 17:00GMT would be 8:00AM - 1:00PM Eastern (US). If GMT does not equal Zulu, then disregard my statement and make fun of me. -----------------------------------

IIRC, for all intents and purposes, ZULU, GMT and UTC are all the same. <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

Originality it was GMT but some countries didn't like being reminded it came from the UK (the G stands for Greenwich which is on the zero meridian line) so it was renamed. A bit like trying to rename .com to .co.us but that's politicians for you. Confusion or convention is not something they care about.
