Edited by: Spawinte on 26/08/2009 18:02:00 This has happened to me in the past. Posted about it like a madman on here to no avail. The solution I now use whenever this happens is to connect as described in the following link, you only need to do it once to get the bulk data downloaded and then you can ditch it and connect normally. I think the IP address in the post might need to be updated as these instructions were written in 2004 but it still works for me.
EDIT: forgot to post the link lol http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=122939&page=1#5

Those of you using a 64 bit operating system should use freecap instead of sockscap.

Hi.
If you are having problems with logging on by getting stuck on the bulkdata you can download the necessary files from here: http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/data/bulkdata-v.6.14.99186_fix.zip
Simply extract them into your C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bulkdata folder and then launch the client and you should have no problems connecting.

Nice one, the zip file thing fixed it. I wasn't just hanging, was a complete bluescreen for me, but sorted now.
Any idea how it happened, as in what changed?

For Mac: App. / EVE (right click, show package contents) / Contents / Resources / transgaming / C_drive / Program files / CCP / EVE / bulkdata (extract here).

For the Mac place the files in the folder: /Users/username/Library/Preferences/Eve Online Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_eve_tranqulity/cache/MachoNet/87.237.38.200/218/CachedObjects/
or as ImmuneStyle said:

Or you could just do the gm xamo thing, my fix wouldn't even work on my own windows 7 machine

I actually downloaded freedom and sockscap, and got it set up, but it couldn't fix a blue screen.
I knew that anyway...but still tried it. Thankfully the benevolent lords were watching, and pulled out a zip file fix in just over 24hours. Nice work.

Heh, if you got stuck at 5/39, you must have renamed(or deleted) your bulkdata folder. I did that myself.
I can guarantee that you will log in, but will lose your settings, if you download fresh install, then insert the zip file.

Brilliant all fixed, cheers devs, very much appreciated.
Clueless û dunno if you did what I did at first, which resulted in exactly what you are reporting, but in order to fix the problem you need to extract the files (I did this to desktop) then copy and paste those 2 files into your existing bulkdata folder, replacing existing files but retaining all others.

Over write all of the files.
I did a fresh install trying to fix it myself anyway. The fresh install only worked after over writing the entire bulk data folder.

If downloading and replacing your bulk data from the link above is not working for you, then i suggest trying out this alternate fix i've discovered outlined here.
In short, find someone with a working client, and have them send you their bulkdata and settings folder (from within the folder found here.) Problem Solved! "open your eyes, live the dream, manifest your life." |
