well i was scrambled and couldn't target jack sh!t!!! This was very annoying! Now i was wondering, how do u scramble someone from targetting u and more important, how can i prevent beeing scrambled from targetting?
I think it has something to do with ship scanner attributes right? Well i'm flying a gallente ship so my highest attribute on my ship is Magnetometric, am i correct to asume that if someone uses ECM equipment on me and gets higher then that number (say i got Magnetometric 9 and the person has 2 ECM devices that give him Magnetometric -12) that i'm well... screwed regarding targetting?
Hope someone can give me an answer on this.
Cheers signature? What signature? ;) |

Try fitting backup arrays, you have to overcome they're jam strength, get some gravametric IIs, 1 or 2 will put you above most jammers, depending on what your flying.

Your line fo thought is indeed correct.
Jamming (its not called scrambling, thats the stuff where you cant warp away), works thru the use of ecm modules, which are midslot and either have -4 on each sensor type (multifrequence jammer) or -6 on one and -2 on the other three (race-specific jammer). Anyone that activates enough jammers on you to have more negative points in total then you have positive points in any of the sensor types has you target jammed.
thru the use of multifrequency jammers one can also target jamm multiple people, or at least make their offenses next to usless. This because the cycle duration of multifrequence jammers is short enough thet chaning target for jamming each rounds and returning to the first target after say two rounds of jamming others will still be fast enough to prevent the first target from ever re-aquiring lock on his targets. Of course this assumes you are jamming battleships, not frigates with their shorter locking times.
Anyway: defence.
Use either ECCM modules in your medslots that need to be activated and use cap or use ECCM modules in your lowslots that do not need activation or cap. In general, a sensor strength of more then 20 is considered reasonable defence against jamming, altho some people have taken onto using up to 7 multispectral jammers, which makes you need more then 28 strength to not be jammed. But in general, going this far in defence against jamming is excessive and counterproductive as it just uses too many slots.

As ppl said here, ECCM's are your best defence. But the next time we meet you in 0.4 we just have to use more ECM's to counter that, and we have ourselves a little competition on who has the highest strength.

You have one more problem Hunter.. we know what ship you are in, and can use a setup that fits the Mega's sensor strengh..
So if you decide to use a real Battleship next time, not that Gallente scrapheap you're flying now, we could have a problem

How the hell can anyone be flying a battleship without knowing basic stuff like jammers and backup sensors??? Goes to show once again that every single n00b and his uncle can fly a BS in eve. Well, more meat for the grinder.

i find the best defence against jamming is to jam the crap out of them first you need uber locking times for that to work tho, so fit 2 sensor booster II's and 6 multispecs on a scorp and you should own them, you will just need someones help to stop them getting away.

or if you can target them before they target you sensor dampen them and then stay out of their range ecm can only be used against you if he himself can target you....risky move but its another way of going about it
