Is that a Megathron getting blown up at the end of the gameplay footage?

I also think it's a mega! at least that was my first spontaneous thought. I'm a bit confused what ship that's destroying the "mega"?

It looks to be kilometers away in the video. Looks like it's hovering over a mountain range.
Looks huge enough to me. |

Considering a Megathron is a little over a kilometre long, I doubt it. It would have to be very high up to even look that small, and the missiles are flying almost right at it. I'd say a cruiser at most (and even those are almost a third of a kilometre long), but most likely a frigate or something, since those fit in the best in terms of size (at 30-90 metres).

Edited by: bff Jill on 18/08/2009 20:15:09 its probably some sort of atmospheric flight ground support thing thats not even as big as a frigate. Probably be flyable by the dust players. Or maybe its just a map feature, a fixed destructible position that can shoot at things untill it gets exploded.
Either that or they are just butchering the whole thing and now ships are that tiny.

Have to agree with you, that did look a lot like a Taranis dipping into that alley and blowing that tank apart. Although the Taranis would have needed a hot wash to fit down there, that tiny frig is still 38 meters long according to the ship chart, it would have taken up most of that street by length alone, let alone in width.
As for the target ship in the trailer, perhaps a Navy Comet? The dipping front and overall shape of the hull match it more or less, and for a frig it's quite large (64 metres).
Could also be an Exequror perhaps, but at ~400 metres, that's not exactly a small ship. Think of a hovering WTC in terms of length.

Nah... the Megathron is like 500m long isn't it? That ship didn't look bigger than about 100... probably a cruiser if anything.

The big ship is obviously a Proteus, but the other one is difficult to make out.
To me, it does look like a Megathron. -----

make sure you're using ship chart sizes to make size statements instead of signature radius, as signature radius is how big something looks on sensors not thier physical shape and size.

This.
Front end electronics systems is definitely a Dissolution Sequencer, can't make out the rest of it though.
