So I just had a guy come through a gate I was sitting on in my HIC. He was in an Abaddon, and while holding cloak he logged out.
So when he logs, he uncloaks and starts his auto-warp. The catch is, myself and the guy with me were unable to target him. He was invulnerable. We had easily 30 seconds to apply a point, but couldn't.
I've submitted a petition, but I figured I would start this thread. I've seen people logging while holding cloak for years now, but you could always point them.
cuss, discuss.

Sucks, but there are ways around it.
1) have a (small) smartbomb fitted 2) burn towards coward 3) aggress him with smartbomb (needs no lock, and causes 15min pvp timer on him) 4) probe his ship and kill 5) probe his pod and kill

wont work...
because the target logged b4 decloaking.. hence 2 mintutes to scan down at best.
also name and shame.

well there is actually a slight difference between just logging of and forcing a log off by logging into yourself while you're in space

Pretty sure that doesn't work any more.
Logging before you get an agro timer still means you vanish from space in ~1m or so.

Hasn't worked for years.
The trick is if you log off before receiving aggro, you will vanish in 30 seconds. So CTRL-Q while under gatecloak and you're 100% safe.
The way to catch someone doing this is to have probes around the spot where they logged off, insta-probe them when they log on and tag them with a smartbomb (because otherwise they can just log off again as soon as they see the hostile land on grid).
Gives them a 15-minute aggro timer so even if they do log again you can probe them out at your leisure and teach them not to do it again.

I did Have probes in space, and instant 100% scan returns on his abaddon, but if someone is quick with the login/logoff they will walk themselves into a deep safe and are very hard to catch.
The guy had just killed a few NPC's in a belt before jumping into my system, so I was hoping he might stay in space for longer than 30 secs.
Anyways, It's just the first time I've seen someone become invulnerable after logging off. I mean I've been able to kill at least a dozen freighters that logged off before they vanished because of the shear DPS in gang. This guy though: "unable to target"
blah.

Agression is system based unfortunatly, so him shooting the rats or even been agressed by another player would have no effect. We recently had a CVA-pet Onyx deagress, jump through a gate, then log and disappeared after 30s. ---
