first off the negitive 1. they way to small.. like they not much bigger then a fleet of bs yet they hold unlimited ships.
2. Indy's and BS's get stuck upon undocking everytime this need to be smoothed out.
what to change
1. MAKE THEM HUGE like at 15 km it should like a huge wall. only at 60km can u start to see its size like it would make them more real. also they should have like big doors on the side where ships are brought in... instead of these current small then bs undock's
2. make UNDOCKING bays huge so a bs dosen't bounce around like an insane guy in a rubber room. 2 bs's should be able to undock same time with out a prob.
also i was thinking that space stations should really have built in sentries where like the space station its self shoots instead of sentries hanging around..
this would help with player controled stations where like the controling corp gives items to the station ( 50 high slots on a station ) different gun / missile types. ( 40 med slots on a station ) for their sheilding and stuff ( 50 low slots on a station ) and this for their armor and stuff
i only the thinker u guys the game designers u figure out how to make this work.

i agree at present the scale of some of the stations is a little poor, When inside a station your like wow this thing is huge then you leave..... erm was that really what i came out from. I just think a scale change is in order nothing more.

Agreed. Auction your items for isk, works sort of like ebay. |

Please dont make em any largeer....Especially Caldari stations. Theyre hard enough to get around as it is with the crappy detection system eve has.
Ships always get stuck on all the pointless arms and spikes sticking out. ---------------------------

The detection system seems rather good to me. I suspect the problem is more likely that there is only one "launch sequence" for all the bases (although they do exit from different points, including for a given station) and this doesn't account properly for the different sized models.
I agree that the size of the stations is a little small in terms of realism, I guess making them larger would mess with the fact that they are probably designed to synch with the "warp to 15km" option.

Eloquent as always db.
You know, the real fix for the station undocking problem (that always afflicts me) is to make them insubstantial. It's not very realistic, but there isn't any real reason to ram a station anyway and it doesn't hurt either one you when you do. Planets and moons are insubstantial, so why not the stations as well.
It's an easy fix. So easy in fact that it should never have needed to be suggested.

I would be OK with the stations remaining the same size but PLEASE, fix the launch sequence.
Maybe the ships should actually "Launch" from the station. In other words, when you undock your ship is launched 20km out of the station so that it clears all parts of the main structure then control is "Handed off" back to the pilot.
This would also solve the issue of pilots taking a quick peek outside to see who wants to kill them...
since they would be 20km away before they could try to re-dock
The launch speed could be a constant for all ships and should be relatively fast, say 300m/s "Its all fun and games til somebody gets Podded" |

Yup either write a decent robust collission system (would help in Roid belts as well...) or turn collision off for stations.

Make that 1kms and make it fly 15km away from the station. 15 Seconds isnt very long and youd be far away enough to align for warp in any direction. ---------------------------

FYI: it used to be this way about a year ago; i.e. stations - as well as 'roids, billboards, etc - didn't have any collision model whatsoever. I for one very much preferred that situation but I rememeber these forums being covered by veritable avalanches of complaints about it not being realistic, hence the change
There also were a few issues with the old approach IIRC. One example: some players apparently hid "inside" stations where they were invulnerable to missiles and more or less unreachable by smartbombs as well. Not sure inhowfar those issues would still apply today though...

That would be fine with me as well, I just tossed those numbers out as an example. The main point is to have a structured station exit system so your not playing ping pong on the station walls when undocking or trying to go to warp.
(Its gotta drive the station maintenance crews nuts repainting over all the scratch marks on the station walls from all of the collisions not to mention my Apoc's Wax Job) "Its all fun and games til somebody gets Podded" |

QLI:: man lol once agian your words are above my head >:D
so since it didn't make much sence to me I say
BIGGER IS BETTER and er... looks cooler
imagin flying towards a huge bloody station like JUST BLOODY MASSIVE
and perhaps to fix that getting around them thing mabby make it so u undock basically same way when u jump threw a gate u end up random distance and direction from gate.
but they need to be larger lol scale makes games much more real planets and moons meh who really flys to them and like scales them up. with statiosn u always flying near and around and in them. so like u need to feel the sheer massive scale of them it would be like just sweet.
SWEETTTT

i am putting this in its own reply because like its not all that important or good
i would also like stations to be more solid so your ships while docking don't fly right threw them cause thats just annoying like i know its not needed. but its just like ITS NOT RIGHT lol

also about there defence systems IT HAS TO BE TOTALLY AUTOMATED
i don't feel like risking a station we worked for to human error. outfitting and stuff would be good but it has to be automated
