So I've been approached by a few corps wondering if I can fly Black Ops. I've looked at their stats and, okay, they're stealth battleships. What good could they possibly do besides lie in wait and spring a trap?
Any Black Ops pilots wanna defend their ships? I just don't exactly understand their appeal. My sig sucks. |

They're great because they have jump drives, gates and cloaks.
They suck because apoc 1.5 isn't out yet. Parrots, commence!

Well they'll have a fuel bay added, other things I don't know right now. They don't suck from the right perspective. You just don't want to use them for real fleet fights, that 700m ISK ship doesn't do better than its 60m variant. You can do some awesome stuff with them, which is jumping covert fleets and yourself by teh covert jump bridge. But aside from that, no real use, no.

...and also awesome because local still spikes when a covert, or any, fleet enters local.
...and also awesome because the one place local doesn't matter, well, you can't really use jump portal stuff.
...would make a nice stealth smartbomber though.
For more enjoyment and greater efficiency, consumption is being standardized.

Can't Bops portal into cynojammed systems now ?
Anyone had success dumping a bomber blob on top of a cynojammer, kill it ASAP then jumping the proper capitals in ?
Possible ? Plausible ?

I thought a tachyon redeemer would be funny to try to booby alpha people undocking. However would need a couple to alpha anything interesting as only 400dps at 120km.

Hint: if you cyno directly to the (already tackled) target, it doesn't matter if local spikes. ==========

Let's see
-these ships can fit cloaks, so can any other ship -they have 125% cloaked speed, big deal! their base speeds are 100m/s, can't AB/MWD while cloaked anyway so what's the point? -having to fit cloak&cyno leaves 6 high slots for weapons, 5 with a neut. Do they get some nice dps bonuses? no -better tank? no -they require ridiculous amount of skills
so what can they do? jump 2 systems away at a cost of 750-850 mil per ship yay!

Its a black ops bridge with a ship built around it.
Use as such. |

This plus covert cyno hauling.
If you want to use it for anything else, it will suck and give extremly poor value.

Honestly i'm thinking of selling mine,
I lived in an alliance which had jump bridges in nearly every system.
I would sit in my black ops cloaked waiting for target to appear on comms, of course a single target. I would use my Widow. Anyways the limited jump distance would mean , I'd never get to the fight fast enough or loose him, Or simpley couldn't catch him. U wouldn't want to sit on a gate for fear of a blob.
Honestly might aswell sell it and get a Golem.
But it looks so pretty.

not sure if you got the meaning of "black Ops" but don't think you got it right.
The term for me stands for guerrilla tactics, and that means tiny group of BOP ship behind enemy lines causing avoc.
Do they worth the skills and 1b to get them properly fitted? Yes they do and have a very specific role. (not only for those operations but also for ratting till they discover the potential of these ships as they stand)
Now including these BOps ships on main strike force/fleet battles is pure no cense and the nutter that has that idea of using them this way should be tide up on a dome for a dominix session

behind enemy lines causing avoc? Recons/SB can also do that and for way lower price, plus they come with ewar abilities no, black ops are NOT worth their price

Your point is valid no doubt. But would depend on numbers to be effective and on the ship size of the target.
Now an single BO/group of 3 of such BS won't make local to jump too much and can strick nonaware targets in fast lock+damage sequence.
While recon or any other ship with clock device still have some seconds to wait until is able to lock... and those seconds are enough for an experienced pilot to get away before get locked... now losing a target like that would be almost impossible on BO.
Of couse price is a factor, but that is the 1st rule on EVE fly what your wallet allows.

Black ops as they currently stand are nice ships that are WAY overpriced. Yes a BO killed a carrier...with the help of 19 other ships.
If they could fit a Cov-ops Cloak and actually make use of the 125% cloaking speed, they still prob wouldn't be worth the current 800 mil to 1 bil they go for. But it would be a start.
The added fuel capacity they are workin on is nice but without the cov cloak your flying a reduced tank T1 BS with a portal gen only certain ships can use.
Course I am a glutton for punishment as I am saving up for my next Widow

Well think of black ops as a titan. Now a days most of the titans are used for as a jump bridge thats all. If the defender or attacker s hopeless and wanna make their enemy some isk damage then they use their dd but generally after dd without proper support fleet it is hard to save the titans. If u consider the price of a titan then the idea would be that TITANs are useless as well.
Why do they use blackops? Simple. If you dont want your ewar ships to be plotted something like few jumps to lots of jumps before, you would use bo. Many alliances uses bo s usefully. Consider as a huge gate or pos war. BS fleets r over as the DDs are blown. Sınce you have been podded or at least lost ur ship u need time to get back in action and get your revenge from the titans or the surviving enemy fleet. BO opens the jb all those ewar ships arrive to the local in few seconds. Tackles the titan(s) or at least blows the surviving fleet which would probably be in structure and guess what??? one of the cov op pilot that u brought to the field opens a cyno and u hot drop your cap fleet in. These scenerios r the ones happing at 0.0 and will continue to happen.
As you dont just get in your titan and join a fleet war you dont fit your bo and get in bs fleet for a field war.
Use the ships according to their roles. At such points you will find it out yourself why it is so expensive ;)
