I buy an ishtar from a guy for the sole purpose of pew pew along the way i put a probe launcher and 2 gravity capacitors on there. I discover this makes clearing out probe sites easier especially with rats in them. I hack the site in my trusty ishtar and get decrpytors. I sell the decryptors in jita to a lone inventor, who happens to be an inventor and builder for a pirate corp. He uses the decryptors and builds a small tech2 fleet for his pirate corp, which in turn finds the guy who built my ishtar and sends him back to the cloning facility.
So you have to ask, what if he never sold me that ishtar? --------------------------

I love how the miner in that movie keeps his mining lasers on while being "attacked by the evil pirates." Which proves he's a macro miner, or at the very least AFK. The whole movie would have been different had CCP acknowledged that little butterfly.

Or maybe it wasn't "evil pirates," but rather a very kinky roleplay session...
"Mine faster, slave!" "Yes, mistress!"
which got rudely interrupted, but it's ok, guests are welcome, which then turned into a group session thing and then a group vs. group encounter.
Hmm, someone should take that movie and do a whole Mystery Science Theater 3000 thing to it.

2 months later we were in the middle of an intense war, Eager to get back into combat I undocked forgetting to upgrade my clone, right into an interceptor, I was able to warp away in my pod. But I was panicking. the area was hot, that station was hot. So I went into a nearby dead end system trying to "take cover". When I got in there was a single outpost, Shining out like a light in the darkness, and not a red in system. I docked happily and upgraded my clone.
Only when I saw the butterfly video did I realize, That was the exact outpost I spent so many hours building...

I used to recruit noobs and teach them how to get their heads around the learning curve whilst providing a place to chill and laugh in my corporation.
Now most of them are more successful than me, and I'm just happy that I could help. However out of the hundreds of players that have been ushered through my corp in various lengths of time only one of the damn scoundrels actually complied with my "Stuff Plox" request when he said he was quitting for good. Luckily i didnt sell his ships as he turned up again a few months ago. Surprisingly he didn't want the actual liquid isk back. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I bought 10 Rifters for the sole purpose of pirating something, and getting them blown up.
I took them to Ossogur and jumped one over to Amamake, ready to PvP. I'm warping around, using my directional scanner over and over to no avail, when I find a hurricane at a belt. I warp to the belt at 0 and see him 100 off, so I warp to the celestial in line with him and warp back to the belt at 100. At this time he is 200 off int he other direction, and a blob of pirates started warping in to kill him.
Through all the chat of local I get the Hurricane pilots attention, and in the following conversation we agree to a 1v1 one system over. Rifter vs Rifter, and he owns my sorry little metal keister. So after that I suggested we go pirating together, since he was a pirate himself he agreed to it, and he invited me to his Ventrillo to make it easier to talk. From there I meant his corp mates and I believe his CEO. And the first thing his CEO ask is "Is he going to join our corp?"
I could have taken that opportunity to join his corp, to join his alliance and pirate. But I have to be in 0.0 for my corp, so I declined the offer and pirated with him for a few days until my corp needed me, than I podded myself back over.
That was my Butterfly effect, that got me stable-ish in PvP and got me in love with pirating (And hating it now that I need to grind my sec status back up to enter high-sec). ________________________________________________

My story.... hmmm.....
Young mining alt joins industrial corp / quasi alliance. Alt makes a bunch of ISK in corp mining ops. Over the holidays alt takes a brief journey into Ushra' Khan as a tackler. Alt returns, is promoted to deputy mining director. Alt feels cool. Alt becomes bored, quits to a FW corp for a few weeks. Alt returns (again), gets bored, tries to sell intel to corprate enemies. Alt remains quiet for a few months. Alt attacks a friendly ice fleet. Alt is booted. Alt joins merc corp. Alt gets a Megathron, Buzzard, and Condor kill. Alt buys a T3 ship. Merc corp stagnates, alt quits to teach newbies.
And that's this character's life story...

On an older character, I skill up with the purposes of pirating. After some hard work and diligence, I join a pirating corporation and pirate with them for about a month. While still in the pirating corp, I kill a corp member for a nice bounty. Get removed from the corp. After flying space alone for a while, I realize that I don't want to pirate anymore. I want to be the anti-pirate. Those bounties are juicy. After grinding sec status up, I join a anti-piracy group which is about to war dec a corp that remains unnamed. After two weeks of prep, the anti-piracy corp war decs the piracy corp I was in about a month prior. The rest is history.

i have a poop in my pod which is flushed from my spaceship in the usual hi tech fashion. on hitting the vacuum the poop expands then freezes into a solid block. the block breaks through the ****pit of a freighter and destroys it in a million to one chance. the freighter was carrying emergency vaccine for a universe wide virus that is killing all humanoid life. everyone dies.
What if i had done a number one instead of a number two?

Your number one would freeze, forming a dense spear of amonia-rich water/urea. This is pushed to relativistic speeds by the wake of your warp drive activation, forcing it to spear through the graviton reactors of a nearby Rhea, causing a fatal reactor implosion, and thel oss of all hands plus cargo.
This then expands, the micro black hole fed by the 1 to a billion chance of your frozen snake-drool contributing to the formation of a gravimetric cascade, resulting in a blackhole that destroys the entire eve cluster in the next 10,000 years. The resultant radiation of celestial bodies being swept up kills all life in the immediate solar system, and all worlds are scoured clean by 7,500 years.
You were right to go with the Number Two.

Very similar to the vid, although I was the carebear back in 2003. I was sitting in a low sec belt in my merlin ratting away when 2 pirates warped into my belt both frigs also, I held up a while but being a newb i was gonna die so I asked in local channel for help, when another 2 guys came in and killed the pirates and I lived \o/
Those 2 guys then started chatting and invited me into a channel with other members of small corps, who were dedicated to stopping pirates whenever they could. I am still in that channel today although we don't bother with that anymore, a number of the members of the channel have went on to become rl friends etc :p
For me however this was my route into 0.0 and alliance warfare, the 2 guys who saved me joined a corp in the original Stain Alliance, the corp was called GFL and they invited me to join with them and that's how my whole 0.0 pvp career started way back in 2003.
Since then I have been involved in some of the most important moments in eve, from the first BS vs BS fight, partaking in activity's that have brought about changes in game mechanics eg. Aggro timer, to the first titan kills and biggest and most significant battles in eve, some of which have even reached the global media such as NYT and the BBC!
I have played this game non stop since those first days in the belts of low sec and have never looked back! I love this game for good or bad and I hope its here to stay for a long time yet.
I wonder what would have happened had I not been attacked by those 2 pirates and saved by those 2 guys. Would I still be here? Would I be a carebear in 1.0 running missions I will never know.

Here's mine:
- started off EVE as a mission runner / Industrialist, - Lost at least one Badger to some pirates in low sec, - moved out to 0.0 with a corp that eventually died, but had made some friends of this new upstart of an alliance that didn't like the 'powers that be' in Pure Blind, - got into a new corp that PVP'ed roids but had some friends that were on a 'busmans holiday' from 0.0 to protect their real life friends's corp (they were part of that upstart alliance, at least one of them remembered me), - Indy corp got war decked and I started training more pvp skills than science/industry so I could help with numbers, - Wardecs stopped happening, corp started to break up a bit (Busmans holiday was over), - Moved with the PVP side of that corp to a pure PVP corp, - Had kids and sort of had to bow out for a bit, then returned - Currently back in that upstart PVP alliance.
When I go out on a roam, the fc is one of the pirates that popped me in low sec all those years ago.
There are lots of people I've met during my career that were really good to me. I'll never forget them. The story continues I guess ;-)

ok here is a new one
Imagine if you will you are a pilot out in space looking for trouble. On your scanner you see a pilot appear and disappear, from what you see you know he is cloaking You catch up to him and engage him before he has a chance to hide again. What you dont know is that 2 jumps away there is a massive fleet heading for you and you are just picking off the forward scout. You see another pilot cross yoru path taking off like a bat out of hell, he warns you about the pilot and the immenant danger that is to come.
What do you do?
You quickly finish off the scout and loot his cargo obtaining a cloaking device that your vessel can use. The pilot that warned you about the fleet earlier invites you to his fleet and you both escape to the next system over. There the pilot thats with you switches ships to a carrier and allows you to fit the cloaking device before he jumps out.
Now the scout and his buddies are mad at you for killing him and taking his stuff and come after you. The arrive in system and you play a game with them by cloaking and decloaking for a bit. They lock down the system so you cant leave.
What the fleet doesnt realize is that carrier pilot that just left is rallying his friends to come back and go after the fleet thats hunting you down. Because of this the fleet didn't notice the massive gate activation.
You are now in the middle of a warzone, and you get to watch all the fireworks. What would have happened if you didn't go after that scout? --------------------------
