last week's column wasn't nearly as focused on nuts and bolts as it could have been, this is a practical guide for how to recognize when an alliance is on the brink of annihilation, and how to best secure your assets to avoid having to quit the game in shame because your leadership was on par with IRC's.

eah, it's not bad. Doesn't contain much that someone who has been in several alliances over the years wouldn't know, but it's a good resource for players new to the 0.0 game (and these are the guys in alliances most likely to cascade)

Claiming Yaay to be a "primary fleetcommander" kind of lowers the quality of the article to below sea-level. :)

yeah, its well written
one section I feel could have been added, is around: 'how to protect against failcascade, whilst not looking like you want to jump ship'
For example:
When INSRG looked wobbly but has not yet failcascaded, my corp quietly removed all assets from station and into ship/hangar arrays in various systems... but we still turned up to all ops, contributed, etc... we didnt look like we were preparing for the worst and everyone else was none-the-wiser, neither did it impact negatively on our combat readiness
When it was increasingly obvious that INSRG would cascade, we evacced these hangars in what can only be described as our 'Dunkirk', placing carriers in a nearby deadend system and running relays over the course of 3 long long days, whilst all the stations and most exits were permacamped by the NC and the alliance burned around us
We saved something like 350 ships (mainly HAC/BS), all our caps, and all our POS/fuel/mods etc. This was followed by the infamous 'jotram scam' so we were very glad of that, and our corp didnt lose anything when the alliance failcascaded.
So there are ways of protecting against a cascade, whilst looking totally committed in all other respects. ----------

It misses the whole: 'Don't trust anyone with your stuff'
More key to avoiding the failscade is not joining a fail alliance in the first place. Remember most sov holding 0.0 alliances are on the fail curve somewhere!
Instead of taking part in this enjoy blowing their stuff up and farming their pets nightly.
The bit about forced CTAs by idiot leadership made me laugh, like herding cats with a shotgun . If an alliance doesn't have xing up for epic bloodthirsty pew every day which everyone is desperate to join, its a failsauce alliance IMO.

The more i read these, the more I realize mittens is trying to socially engineer the eve populace and encourage fail cascades to occur even more. A self-fulfilling prophecy kinda thing, i believe, lol. Get presented with a set of general circumstances, people read them and then start applying them to their own alliance even if they don't exactly fit, and then they 'escape the fail cascade'... possibly resulting in the start of a fail cascade? A soft word turneth away wrath. While its back is turned, shoot it in the head. |

On the other hand, your claiming the article is of low quality counteracts that.

I love your articles. I in fact envy you, because you're probably being paid for these articles, and I am not. The things you say are basically the way GHSC operates, except with different terminology. But the science behind it is the same - you kill alliances the same way we used to kill corps, before we became faggoty expensive ship collectors and mostly offline fame whores.
You may well be the best human being to visit Eve in a long time. My respect.
