If you've been playing Eve for a fair time like myself a check of your assets reveals all manner of assorted items scattered throughout the universe which you have played in. I reckon the collective total of this must run into trillions of ISK if it was all gathered together.
Part of the problem is that it is a real pain in the bum to visit every station on your asset list & gather everything together & sell or melt the items. I have even found the odd faction item-long since forgotten amongst all the Tec1 stuff & other items.
The database overhead for all this, for every player, must be huge. My own items run into the hundreds-if not thousands by now & the situation gets worse because I'm lazy- pure & simple. I don't clean up when I move on & I bet lots of players don't do so either.
I suggest a solution-be it a new skill or part of the interface. Not sure which would be best-so we can discuss.
Station clean up! at the click of a few buttons.
This is an option, at station level, which will automatically reprocess all the items you have left behind anywhere in the Eve universe. All items left at a station are reprocessed and the minerals automatically sold on the market at the click of a button. There should be filtering in place to protect against accidentally reprocessing a tec2 or faction item. The advantage is no contracts to worry about but more about getting a reasonable price for stuff which would otherwise be left for dust.
The impact would be a massive surge in minerals but I'm sure it would calm down in a few weeks & everybody would have more ISK to spend on better products.
This is a simple idea but it would inject ISK into a players account, stimulate the market place & clean up the "junk" throughout Eve universe.
Please discuss.

Although that sounds very nice to have, I see no reason to implement it other than your lazy. I'm also guessing your not into trading or indy stuff as this could be used for sooo much more than just cleaning up. Think about all the people that buy hundreds of trash items off of missioners to covert them to minerals. Also the mineral market is not NPC run, it is player run so its not as if every station has a buy order up for minerals. In the end I see it as kinda unnecessary, I mean think about it if you decided to use this, I'm willing to bet you'd use it once than you'd have cleaned up and would have to use it too much after that.
For it to be a viable feature I think it would need a greater purpose, maybe redesign to cater to indy guys or something. I would categorize it as more of a wish, than a game mechanic.

Too broken. If you want to clean your asset list at the click of a button, there is always the trash button. Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

This, tbh. No benefit for beeing lazy.
Most of the stuff in those stations is of little value, anyways. You would have taken it with you, if it had nuch value.
So just use that trash button on anything not worth your time traveling there. Collect the worthy rest on a lazy sunday autopilot afternoon.

How about a 'Win the Game' button too.
This isnt WOW, its not meant to be easy. If you leave a load of stuff at a station then you have to go back for it.
Do you really want there to be an 'easy' button for every task that takes a little time in this game?????
OMG, I just read some more of your idea:
Quote: There should be filtering in place to protect against accidentally reprocessing a tec2 or faction item.
Not only do you want an 'easy' button, but you want it to be idiot proof as well.
Sorry, but I would have to vote NO for this idea. ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

I would rather see some sort of courier system put in place.
In your assets tab, you place an order to have your goods shipped to x. At this point, the appropriate agents of the owning corp start to give courier missions to PC's to go pick up the items and transfer them.
There would be an upfront cost of 1.5 times the items market value for the service, some or all of which could be defrayed with Loyalty points. The pilot accepting the mission would have to pay the market value in escrow, and would recieve a portion of the service charge in payment---the percentage based on security rating of the destination.
All such transfered items would come packed in secure cans that require a password set by the owner to open.

I do believe there is something very much like this already in place. You may want to look into it. From the Wiki, Courier Contracts:
"You can request that someone ferry a bunch of items for you by setting up a Courier contract. The items are all placed in a box that the contractor agrees to carry from A to B. You can set up a reward for successful completion as well as a collateral which should cover you in case the package does not make it all the way. There is a 120 thousand m3 limit to courier packages and you have to be careful when setting up these types of contracts because the contractor will be able to peek inside the package and potentially steal all the items in there if he doesn't care that he will lose the collateral. If you set your collateral at the exact worth of the items being hauled then you should be safe.
The expiration possibilities for this type of contract are 1 day, 3 days, 1 week and 2 weeks.
You are able to specify how many days the contractor will have to complete the mission once the contract is accepted. Once that time has passed the issuer can "Fail" the contract at any time. Note that the contract does not become failed automatically and the issuer can therefore give the contractor some extra time if they have come to some sort of an understanding. Whether or not the contract is with a corporation or an individual, the contractor will have to have the package in his personal hangar before he can "Complete" the contract."

Since I have a feeling the piles of objects for non-active or non-coming back accounts is quite impressive AND assuming the OP isn't just lazy AND assuming the OP really wants to help the CCP Database with cleanup, I think it'd be better for the station to just "cleanup", aka melt to mins, every item left in a hanger [pick a random length of time] months after the account expires.
Note: I guess you can't melt a melted snowball, so still thinking about how to handle that |
