hi i have been trying to fix this for days with no luck. I did a fresh install of windows xp a few days ago and reinstalled eve every thing was fine untill i rebooted my pc now it loads the splash screen and then nothing else. I have to re-download the full game every time i want to log in as when i try to open the eve file that i downloaded (full install from the eve site, i also tried the auto-download version)it now says thats not a valid win32 app. i have tried everything i can think of i even did a another reformat to see if it was a bad install of windows but after i did that the problem is still here.
before i formatted the second time i was getting a verification failure error message.
help me please lol

Edited by: ParkerJ on 07/07/2009 18:18:18 Hey Bud,
Its your resolution in the game, You need to adjust it if you right click on the Eve Icon and then go to Compatability and then Tick the box to set your resolution to 640 x 480 that will allow you in the game and you should be able to change the resolution from there.

its not the resolution
you can't launch the game due to a bug that has surfaced after downtime. I and 19 other people are having the same issue.

UPDATE:
while looking through 10 pages of forums, i found another thread with this issue, about the same ammount of posts.
Anyways,
Pressing alt+ enter, when the eve client is "minimized" in the bar thing thing, will make it go full screen.
I have tested this, and it has worked, and i have changed my eve client to a windowed mode, instead of full screen.
PS, dont give me credit for this, i only found it in another thread.

Problem is that the game doesnt apear at the bottom bar, only in task manager, so ALT+ENTER wont work... This issue has been around once before, some months/years ago, back then it got fixed. Not sure if the cause is the same, but the effect is, excactly...

I have just had this happen, I have multiple clients up & left them open whilst DT came. EVE I think had issues and it now will not start.
I have re-installed the client and that did not fix it.
How do you use the Alt + Enter option, the client does not minimise. It just crashes !! Anyone got any more ideas ?

I am not a computer savvy guy but when this happened to me in April, I had I.T. look at my machine. At that time, I had to back up and re-format my hard drive, re-install the OS and Eve client. Maybe there is a simpler fix or maybe I had other problems on top of things but that is the extent that I had to go to to fix it. Hopefully, you find a better way.

Alt-Enter worked for me, sorta...
After the splash comes up, what happens is EVE opens in a zero by zero pixel window that you can't see. So if you click on the EVE program box/icon in the taskbar, then do alt-enter, it should go back to full screen. If it doesn't, click on it again and type alt-enter.
Once I got open in full screen, I tried to do escape to get to the main menu and then change to windowed mode, but it crashed. Ran fine as long as I stayed in full-screen though. _____ Lifewire is a big, ugly, mean... carebear. |

I am having this problem as well and Alt + enter does not change anything. I brought up eve to log on one day and eve was flickering real bad and was unplayable. I checked for driver updates, installed the latest and now I load eve getting the splash screen then the log on screen never shows up. When I close it out I get an error message with
szAppName : ExeFile.exe szAppVer : 6.10.1.22539 szModName : hungapp szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000
I've Filed a petition for help but been waiting about 3 days for a response.
I uninstalled the video driver and went back to the old one I was using and although it flickers and the graphics are fubar, I can skill change.
Here are screenshots of what I see with the old video driver http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0907/2009.07.18.22.57.50.jpg http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0907/2009.07.18.22.57.41.jpg http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0907/2009.07.18.22.57.37.jpg
Any help would be great

This has just started happening to me as well. Pressing Alt + Enter gets me into the game but I'm stuck in Windowed mode with my FPS down to around 15 making it totally unplayable. I changed nothing my end, this just started happening yesterday. |

Have you tried to launch eve directly? I do not know wether or not this solves the problem, but it might and / or it might help to better analyze the problem:
Standard installation on windows xp would be the following commandline to start eve:
"%ProgramFiles%\CCP\EVE\eve****"
It's only a wrapper that****cutes eve main programm then:
"%ProgramFiles%\CCP\EVE\bin****File****"
If you start it this way directly from the commandline, you will get eve console output that might help to solve things as well.

Doesn't matter what you do, what threads you follow Eve online is a DoDo extinct Dead as, Gone. It wasn't an in game event after all.

updating drivers= naught, eve is nothing but a blue screen fiasco, met some good friends in my time, pretended that I was in space, and nothing more goodbye Eve.

Last night I was looking around for people with the same problem that most of us have been having and I found a thread from back in early 2008. Some guy said he had to roll back to an old catalyst version to get eve back up and running and last night I was downloading different versions of catalyst for about 3 hours and trying them to see if I could get it to work. Finally I found one (7-4) that worked and now eve is back to normal. CCP's guys told me my gpu was probably broken.
I got the old catalyst files from www.guru3d.com. I didn't download and try any modded versions, just the official releases. Hope this helps some people out. Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |
