What caused this? 3 weeks ago +5 implants were selling for 90 mil per.
Now they are selling for 150 mil. That is an absolutely crazy increase.
Anyone care to explain?

If these prices stabilize, I will have to eat all of my words and go back to L4 missioning, since LP will be worth omgwtf amounts of isk.

1. Speculation/Manipulation 2. There seems to be a general diminish in macros/missions of late 3. Someone in the buy forums is offering about 750 isk/lp blanket: enough peeps like this and the days of getting your implants at prices reflecting 200isk/lp are over.

Edited by: Daeva Vios on 06/07/2009 21:41:37 This actually seems to be across the board on implants, at least +3 and up. As to whether it will go back down, who knows? It depends if demand actually keeps up with supply.
If more people recognize the increase in prices and start running more missions and therefore putting more on the market, then no it probably won't stay this way. On the other hand, it will take a lot of implants for the market to reach the same saturation it was at a couple weeks ago. Get while the getting is good. I'm cleaning up either way. ------------------------------------- NECB |

+5 implants need to exceed 195m to be worth considering. That is unless you farm lp all day, every day.

In real life, this world is suffering a depression.
Less people have the money to pay money to keep there accounts up and running, so more people buy game cards, thus the reason for the increase in price of game cards.
People now have less ISK to pay for items in game, thus more and more people are slowly raising the prices on their items, to make this money back.
This would however determine a general price increase globally, which is not necessarily the case.
Also, it might be the case that people are moving away from doing mission, to trading for a higher profit or because people are having to pick up longer shifts IRL, having less game time to play.. trading requires little game time if done right. Thus a increase in price of LP's.
If my predictions are correct, then every item in Eve will slowly rise over the coming years, until this world wide depression is resolved.

There was a massive ban of macros two weeks ago. So there is less offer, so prices go up. I see the same in the rig component market. The daily traded components volume went down from 10k to 5k, and since that, there is steady price increase in the component market. So prepare for a price increase in the rig market as well.

Well 300 courier mission bots, each making 2000 LP per hour makes over 13 M LP in a day... That's over 2600 +3 implans in a single DAY...

Welllll my theory is that the people here arguing for the macro ban reason for the price increase have invested several billions to manipulate the implants market. but thats just my thoughts.

This may be my bad. I went on a Jita podding spree, popped a hundred players froma round 40 alliances, many in full implant sets, a fair few in +5's too.
I welcome all donations to keep the war of the pods alive! __________________________ Nice forum - I'll take it! |

Its a couple of things:
Clever speculation, recent banning of courier macros, someone tipped the Russians off about a CCP grab on macroing accounts so they kicked a crapton of farmers out of 0.0 and a new pastime has evolved for Hulk Gankers; they have realized that targetting individuals in pods is much more fun, if you pick targets carefully its easy to do a billion + in damage to someone.

Edited by: The Optician on 11/07/2009 05:39:03 I've been playing around with +4's on the market in jita, and I really am stumped what's going on with the prices. The fact that volume is down so much in the past 2 weeks means that either the farmer loss really did significantly affect the market and it's still going crazy, or someone is just stealthily buying them all up and not selling them.
Although, the prices have been so volatile lately that I don't suspect this is likely intentional. For one, in Jita, the price on any given +4 can move from a low sell order of ~25m to upwards of 35 as much as several times an hour, and large quantities seem to be moving on buy and sell orders.
It's also curious that in all of the transactions I've performed "testing the water", I don't really see any characters popping up multiple times, unless someone has a hell of a lot of alts.

I think you can safely assume that the farmers were the major sellers. Profit on implants were so low that most/all player mission runners would go for higher ISK/LP items, even if they require the accumulation of other items (tags etc.), hauling (ammo), production, or contracts. The ISK sellers though were mainly interested in a quick turnaround with minimal effort (remember they might be running 10+ accounts), meaning implants were their 'best' option.
So, if the farmers stay banned (I don't really think so), implants will now come mostly from L4 storyline missions until prices for them rise so they're competitive with the better LP offers. If they don't stay banned, prices will rise to a tipping point and will then start dropping again. A good indicator for when the farmers return will be the volume of Wrath Cruise Missiles sold in Jita.
