Edited by: Graisen Krif on 03/07/2009 01:47:55 Hello. I need a little (probably more like a lot) of help. I want to create an API program, which will be used to fetch data (like EVE Commander does) from individuals and/or corporations. I plan for it to list the ships, modules, etc. that they have. The reason is because for a corp i want to create in the future, the people NEED to know what I have available. I was wondering if anyone knew some programs (preferably free) that I can use to do this kind of stuff. I would also like a tutorial, from someone or from a guide that you can link, to help me along and get started. Also, I want to get into cartography (making maps) for EVE Online, which will also list individual system stats, and show the locations of stations, planets, moons, stargates, and even complexes. I would also want you guys to give me some programs that I can use to do this (preferably free once again) and. once again, a tutorial from someone that does this stuff or a link. Thanks guys.

Take look here http://wiki.eve-id.net/Main_Page
It has all the information you need about the API and static dumps etc. Also some very good ready to use libraries to get your application to communicate with the API server.

If you want to do it in php then Out of EVE comprises an asset viewer and the edk killboard has code to render region & constellation maps. That should get you started. Good luck.

Thanks Bloem. Is there a tuorial on that wiki or anywhere else on how to use the .NET version? I downloaded it already, but need some more help. Catari, do you have a link for the program? Or is it on the wiki too?

I know how to use google lol. Thanks.
Anyway, does it only do constellation and region maps?

as I said. you'll have to adapt it for solarsystems yourself, but it's the same kind of thing

in order to show solarsystem maps (i assume circular things, with planets, moon and stuff) you can't really use preexisting things, because i think the are not addapted to drawing circles and handling the orbitID given for stations, moons and planets.
I am not aware of any software making this kind of images other than eve itself. So this might be quite a challenge. (matching an orbit with the x,y,z coordinates, which don't have the be neccessarily in the x,z plane, and other maybe more complicated things)

Well that sucks. If I find a real good mapping program that can be compatible with that (or can even be tweaked to do that)I'd be happy.
