Edited by: Ulverious on 22/09/2004 04:42:37 Edited by: Ulverious on 22/09/2004 04:42:15 Well IÆm the non action oriented kind of player and really enjoyed the quiet pace of the game. I stayed in high security space making enough money for a complete set of +3 implants.
Some guy weÆve never heard about declare with his one-man corp and pod kills me in high sec space for no reason. I was thinking about filing a ôgriferö partition but since corp wars are legal I assume he didnÆt violated the rules. In any case, just a game right
It was fun the first time It will frankly seem to much like work the second since a new set of +3 implants means something like 50+ hours mining.

Well I rather liked the no hassle zen-like flying around in high sec space. I appreciate other players like a different play style and thatÆs fine.
It just seems I canÆt get to play the kind of game I like in high sec space so why not try RL instead?
OH the guy who pod-killed me is Kasper. If he sees this I must confess IÆm slightly curious as to why he killed me. ItÆs not as if he got any loot worth taking and I never heard about him or is corp before.

If you dont like mining, you might like to try missions to recoup your loses. Work your way to level 3 agents and you could earn about 10m - 15m a day, and extra implants.
Plus the chance of useing your agents to track down the person who podded you ... Goodluck either way, Hope you stay with us.

You can get the implants back by doing missions(thats how people get them to begin with).
Also if you didnt EVER want to have to defend yourself, join one of the starter corps (the one you started in the game with). Then people cant declare war on you.

You are quite right (All of you)
Should have stayed in the noob corp but canÆt rejoin it. And the game is not for me if it mandates and action oriented play style.
Also some people donÆt mind having to play 100 hours to get back were they started and I fully respect that û just not my character
Still donÆt really understand why he did it though û it gained him nothing.

But since IÆve canceled my account anyway doesnÆt really matter. IÆm taking a Farwell tour of 0.0 spaces in a hauler just æcause I can now.
After all what can anyone do to me now, right? IÆve already lost everything.
A weird experience by the way. Meet a couple of human rats and the all refuse to kill me û feel it wrong to take advantage of suicidal plot apparently. One guy actually added my killer to his hit list. Told me a ôrealö PVP pirate would never stoop to murder an unarmed freighter in .9 spaces
Got home with a full load of Dark Ocher I mined in unarmed shops û go figure.
Next up û a visit to the works badass stations in 0.0.

Dont do it!
Set up a help fund. Mine some in empire with your new found corp mates. Do some level 3 agent missions to see if you get lucky and get an implant yourself.
Or if you have money buy some implants on Ebay.

Really nice of you to care.
Well I could buy the whole lot back for around $120 on e-bay but that would kind of feel like cheating and, while I can certainly afford it, it would make me feel like an addict.
I mean arenÆt you kind of obsessed if you go and do that sort of thing. I like gaming but if you go down that road you are not really playing the game and might end up spending real money for what is essentially nothing.
I send an eve mail to my killer and didnÆt get a reply û IÆm kind of disappointed. I would have liked to know his reasons.

Well I kinda always thought piracy was about making money. Killing a ship for the cargo makes sense. Ransoming he pilot might make sense to û both happened with RL piracy. But blowing up a sip and killing a pilot for a haul of worthless ore just makes no sense to me. He couldnÆt even carry it away

I've been solo since day 1 (Not including the few months someone else took care of my account) and I do just fine. MMO doesn't always mean "You must group".
Sucks that some asshat did that to you. I wouldn't quit over it man. These things happen. As stated above, if you leave your corp, You'll go back to a noob corp, and if you work your way up to lvl 3 agents, you'll not only make the ISK back, but more than likely get dropped a few implants.

if you don't wake up, i'll have to stop kissing you. all that flailing has made you sleepy. you rest while i untie you. stay here until they find you. My hand made mannequin. i won't let them get you. they'll know you're mine by the fingerprints on your throat. isn't she lovely? isn't she wonderful? like the *****s that we are, swatting flies from the wounds we design. |

You can do anything as long as you have a CONCORD sanctioned war.
You were at war and you failed to do basic things to stay alive and keep your clone. You got what you deserved, I'm afraid.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

I'm afraid you have a very rosy view of what both historical and current real-life pirates get up to. Ingame if the gate guns and CONCORD were like they were a year ago every 'real PvP pirate' (whatever that means) would be all over empire again in a second.
The real shame of this, apart from your leaving, is the probability that the solo guy in his own corp is an alt who logs in once a week to declare some war or other against some tiny empire corp and then transfer the loot to his main. Clearly that is 'enjoying two aspects of the game using separate characters' and is something CCP (arguably) actively encourages by refusing to do anything about alts despite complaints being raised about them since day one. The list of things alts damage or spoil in the game is as long as my arm, from alt wars and forum smack to the science system and escrow, it's a pity you had to fall foul of it.
If you do want to carry on playing even the slightest I'd suggest learning from your experience and stop focussing on mining to the exclusion of everything else. Someone suggested agent missions, and it's a good suggestion if you want to have a safety net. It's easy to relocate and, although it will take a while to build the standings up, once you start getting implants you will get a fairly steady flow. Do them for a corp that hands out memory implants and you only need to get two to be back with a full set and some spare cash. You can also leave agents completely and go back to doing other things and return to them at any time to resume working them - standings are one of the few things no-one but yourself can take off you. Get podded mining and you're, as you've found out, back to square one if you don't have a backup plan.

I came to this thread with an intent to flame, cause i expected the game to be flamed, but after reading the guy's posts i must say i understand him.
There is some kind of a zen-like feeling in this game if you take out pvp, it's probably the only game that has that quality.
Anyway, to the original poster: you should have hired some mercenaries to fight for you, or should have had a pvp guy or two in your corp. ------------------- :: finite horizon :: killboard ::

Ulverious, this is a very sad tale.

This is mmorpg, not single-player rpg.
Hear thoughts like this all the time on the forums, "Its a MMOG so you have to group" usually stated in less friendly terms, well check the back of the box folks.

There are all types playing solo from miners to pirates all having fun interacting with others, just because its a MMOG does not mean everyone has to group or play the game the way you think they should and calling people "lame" on the forums is.
I do feel bad for the original poster but I dont think its worth quitting over call it a lesson learned and move on mate no need to quit.
It sounds to me like you are enjoying a new found sense of freedom anyways. Whatever you decide good luck and have fun.

There is some kind of a zen-like feeling in this game if you take out pvp, it's probably the only game that has that quality.
Anyway, to the original poster: you should have hired some mercenaries to fight for you, or should have had a pvp guy or two in your corp.
Ack. It is a shame to leave the game just because of it though. -- (Battle hardened miner)

I don't blame the guy for leaving, corp wars of that sort are obviously greifing, and should be treated as such.
theres simply no excuse or reason for such an action to be taken, if not to ruin the enjoyment of the game for another person.
this is a social game, it really does need to have at least SOME basic social standards, just like in RL. if your THAT antisocial, go play quake or some other FPS instagib garbage where your expected to blow the other guy up meaninglessly.

Get real, war is an integral part of the game if you dont like it make sure you're still a a member of a n00b corp, they cant declare on you then.
Bye bye and good riddance.

There needs to be a good reason to start a corp war in 0.5 to 1.0 space.
It should not be as easy as picking a corp, waiting 24 hrs, and then start killing.
Concord should refuse to santcion the war, unless there has been hostilities between the corps prior to the declaration...
If a corp stays in 0.5 to 1.0 space and never leaves, I see no reason Concord should sanction any kind of war declared against them...
Before anyone complains about fighting for ore, it's Empire controlled space, you can't cliam roid feilds, or complain that another corp is mining all the ore you percieve to be yours... It's not your to begin with.
It should not just be point, click, declare, and start killing...
What happend to the poster is indeed a form of greifing, and I can see how it would make him want to quit the game...
However, we all know what the current system is (Maybe not, CCP does not do a good job of explianing to players how the game works), and you must learn how to avoid these confrontations if war is declared upon you...

Try again man.
Do yourself a favour - jump in a frigate, load it with guns and have a blast, failing that disappear - EvE is HUGE! and your man will eventually get bored and undec.

Lame response...
It's not trivial for a small corp/solo player, especially if he/she is a part time player...
This game is not freindly to the people who just can not invest a large amount of time to be part of a large corp or alliance...
I certainly think the last thing CCP wants is, to turn away any type of player... We need all the players we can get, even those who do not wish to combat PvP.
Just becasue it's only 1 week of work for some guys to replace a BS & full implants in 1 week, does not mean everyone can do it dude, this guy probably lost 2-3 months of RL time...
Players want to feel as though they are progressing through a game, not repeating...
And if the original poster has his stroy straight, and isn't scamming us, he got boned... Hard... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

Edited by: Ulverious on 22/09/2004 17:22:53 No intention to flame the game. IÆd have no problem recommending it to others. I rather enjoyed it although corp. wars does seem a potential serious exploit as my experience showed.
I am going to let my account run out at the end of the current subscription period. Amazingly enough I have survived playing around several hours in .0 space in my unarmed hauler trying to get killed
I actually had a blast.
I Jump into 0.0 space and is promptly stopped by NORAD fleet command. ôWe have reason to suspect spies are infiltrating this gate. Show valid reason for entry or be fired uponö
I explained I am on a suicide tour of 0.0 space. They admitted that the NORAD charter was unspecific as to whether that constituted a valid reason. We had a nice chat and they decided a depressed suicidal deserved the chance to see a bit more of .0 space and issued me a visa.
I fly on deeper into 0.0 space and encounter a horde of badass player pirates. They lock me and I prepare to die. There is an unusually long pause while I wait for the inevitable ransom demand. Kind of looking forward to telling those pirate scum just were they can stick their demands. I even prepare an epic statement in advance.
The demand never comes.
I wait for the lethal barrage of missiles
Never comes either.
What does come over the local communication is the following: ôOK, this has to be some sort of insurance scam?ö
Bit of an anticlimax really. Once again I explain my suicide tour of the galaxy concept and my reasons. Others have done something similar the point out, but why a hauler? Well it seems right for sightseeing. The slow pace gives me time to, you know, sightsee.
They decide thatÆs just crazy enough to make sense. The wish me I good death and fly on.
Hmm û this final death isnÆt really working out for me.
It turns out my hauler is equipped with a mining lasers. Well makes sense since IÆd used it for afk mining. Anyway, I jump into the middle of the nearest asteroid field and start mining. Man, rich pickings for a .5+ care bear. Ninja miners show up. They pretty much decide IÆm clinical insane. Not less so when I offer to haul their stuff back to empire space unescorted. ThatÆs when I get nicknamed ôKamikaze freight serviceö They fill up the hull and I fly off back toward empire space.
Badass human pirates show up. ôGive us 5 million or weÆllàà.Oh itÆs you again.ö
I fly on.
NPC battleship shows up. Now there is a baddy you canÆt argue with. Time to die.
Not. Badass pirate warp in and blow up NPC rats. ôAt last we get paid for thoseö they point out.
NORAD fleet command warp in. Deploy for battle andà.
.ôExcuse us but arenÆt you badass pirates? You are supposed to pry on helpless civilian shipping - not protect itö
ôThatÆs such a stereotype. Just why we reject conventional moralityö
Instead of fighting they engage in a discussion of ethics while they escort me out of 0.0 space.
I land back were I started feeling very confused and tell the amazed miners that their freight has safely arrived.
Thinking of running a Kamikaze hauler service for ninja miners for a few days until I run out of haulers. I almost had enough fun to consider not cancling
ItÆs just that at this point in the game the loss of 110 million ISK feels like such a huge setback that trying to climb back up seems more like a work then play.
Anyway I think itÆs rather healthy to remind myself that if I get depressed over a setback in a game IÆm taking it way to seriously. I think IÆll be playing RL for awhile. It does have quite a lot to offer IÆm sure you have all read the review at http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/features/all/gamespotting/071103minusworld/1.html
I think it is still a fair review despite constant patching. (Smiley) And people tend to be more understanding if I moan about that then other games
Got to be careful about feeling suicidal there though

I must say that I rarely post on the forums, however, today I came across a proverbial expression which I felt was quite befitting your stiuation Ulverious "Yield not to disasters, but press onward the more bravely." Your loss is unfortunate, however, as Grimster said "failing that disappear - EvE is HUGE!" it is a viable option for you to start a new. Granted it may take sometime to get back to the stage you once were at and being killed is one of the many risks of the game.
No matter your choice I wish you luck should you decide to leave Eve or stay. |

I can of course understand your fustration about losing your implants. They cost a fortune and I for one have earned quite a lot by selling them. The agent buisness is most likely the most profitable profession in high security space so it might not be a bad idea to turn to that profession, especially since the level 4 agents and complexes are coming in Shiva. Taking a break for a few days might be a good idea, often it can bring back the longing to play EVE. Oh and about the podding, Obviously I was wrong about that, Unfortunately I haven't seen a reimbursement request in months, been stuck in billing for quite some time so I'm a little rusty on the combat rules. I'm sorry about the confusing post. /Cheers

Declaring a war on someone does not give you the right to pod someone. You can only pod a player in 0.0 non empire space without facing any consequences. Taking a break for a few days might be a good idea, often it can bring back the longing to play EVE. Besides, supposedly the advanced learning skills are coming in soon (might even be very soon ), which should give you a nice stats boost. That is if you have all the previous learning skills at lvl 5 already. /Cheers
this is a very confusing post.
I've heard repeatedly from players and ISD that a running war means they can attack, *and pod* wherever they feel like it, and have fun with your corpse while they are at it.
and they already said that the advanced learning skills will be in with the server patch next tuesday,

Not true.

Please understand itÆs not that I died and lost my implants. ItÆs the way it happened. Had I gotten killed on an expedition into 0.0 spaces or solo mining in .3 I would have kept playing. You place your bets and you take your chances. If I gamble and do dangerous stuff I fully accept I lose sometimes. That is the way it is supposed to work otherwise the rewards would not be justified.
But if I can get murdered like that, essentially walking the street in a safe neighborhood, it just completely breaks my enjoyment.
I would consider it extremely luck to find all +3 implants for anything less then 100 mill ISK, say 20 days play at my rate and thatÆs if I work at it. Not worth it. There is just no satisfaction when you feel you have to put that sort of effort just getting back to where you were. I simply wouldnÆt enjoy the process. And if I donÆt then there really isenÆt any point. More fun playing RL û you have read the review right?
I could just buy the implants back on e-bay obviously, I could certainly afford it, but that would make me a sad obsessed loser. Always felt there was no point in playing if you cheat. I wouldnÆt be playing them game at all. I either enjoy playing or I donÆt play.
Makes sense really.

Don't worry too much about losing everything. It's happened to me, once due to a game 'feature', and once to being AFK in the wrong part of town.
Agent missions will bounce you back in no time. I made nearly all my funding through agent missions in one way or another. Implants, techII comps, BPO's, etc.
You can always make your way back.
But if you're sure you wanna leave then have fun with whatever you move on to.
btw, nice story there. :) .

I am going to let my account run out at the end of the current subscription period. Amazingly enough I have survived playing around several hours in .0 space in my unarmed hauler trying to get killed
I actually had a blast.

Quote: Well I rather liked the no hassle zen-like flying around in high sec space.
You don¦t need EVE to do this - there are a lot of Sci-Fi-games without multiplayer-options. Cash is mostly called "credits" and you can make tons of "credits" there. A Multiplayergame has 1 very important feature: interaction with other players and interaction can be combat. If you don¦t want this - eve is defintivly the wrong game for you. Empire is only a n00b area for new players to grow up - if you never leave it you never understood what EVE is. You should quit and safe your $.

But if you have made it to an set of basic implants you should have known the rules of eve, if you won't risk anything stay in +0.5 regions. Everywhere else you are in danger to lose everything.....

Ag... you buy implants?... I get them from agents and sell them... If I need an implant and if an agent doesn't give me the right implant then I use the money from the sale to buy the right one.
Trust me, you can get implants from a good agent in far less time than 50+ hours mining.

Hardly. If someone targetted and started shooting at me and I forgot to activate an armour repairer and got killed would that make targetting a serious exploit? As people have mentioned there are ways to avoid getting slammed by a spurious war and if you don't take any action then bad things are likely to happen. If alts weren't anonymous you'd get a lot less of this happening - but it would still go on and there's nothing wrong with that. It's the fact there's probably no way to get revenge that's the big problem (and hence no deterrent).
One of the things I like about EVE is that it's not a continuous upward curve. All sorts of nasty things have happened to me, from when I accidently (or a bug) gave away 40M (this was when 40M was a *lot* of money) to losing full sets if implants on several occasions to forgetting to insure battleships (twice, oops) or even when I bought a load of morphite at silly prices (my 'investment' is still sitting in my hangar now). Has any of that ever really affected what I get out of the game? No - EVE is one of the few games out there where you can get trashed, go on holiday, etc and not come back gimped. You might feel gimped for a bit, but you aren't.

To be honest I'd rather deal with setbacks in Eve than having to put up with all the griefers you usually meet on servers in other games like Unreal Tournament or Quake. I find it much better to have a (war) system where you can predict how people might try to grief you, rather than dealing with all the teamkilling, aimbotting and general bs you get in other games.
Every single tactic in this game you might conceive as lame is more or less well known. Actually, I'd say 80% of them are known by a large part of the community. You don't have that luxury in other games because you won't be able to tell whether that guy who's pwning you like there was no tomorrow is using an aimbot or not... unless whatever anticheat-tool is running on the server happens to detect the bot.
Now while it sucks to see how you lost your implants you should be aware that, as much as they decrease your training time, they're not mandatory to have fun in the game but from reading your story I think you already know that by now.

Well I must confess that 0.0 space does get the blood pumping in a way that just didnÆt happen while playing it safe
On the other hand I my spaceships tends to dissipate in a rapid expanding plumes of plasma around me rather often. From NPC encounters because IÆm screwing up more then anything else. Actually IÆve found the dreaded inhabitants of PF-346 to be surprisingly good company.
From the gracious lady in charge of the Merchant Marines/NOARD picket who first gruffly informs me that she canÆt guarantee may safety and reminds me that ôWe are NOARD û not your bloody bodyguardsö û only to rush in and save my ass as well as the assess of countless other newbie civilians again and again from our fumbling around, to the gentleman buccaneer who was genuinely distressed when he found out his victim was unarmed and insisted on escorting her lifpod safely out of the system.
I love the pirate who was outraged when his corpmate made a despairing remark about the appearance of a girl in local chat. As a newly arrived spectator I was somewhat surprised by his attitude and pointed out they were both trying to kill her at the time. The reply I got was the ôThat is no excuse to be rude to a ladyö
I seem to have been adopted as something of a mascot. Allthough I have to put up with the occasional snide remark along the lines of being a baby even the pirates have so far adobted a remarkable tolerant attitude to me.
A pleasant surprise.

Edited by: Rachel Darkstar on 24/09/2004 00:59:30 I understand the grief. It's verry irritating to be blasted out of space for no reason whatsoever, by a murdering psychopath. And then the pod killing that's typical a thing an ashole does. sorry but there's just no other word for that type of person. I always reminds me of that scene in "The battle of britain" where the lufwaffe pilot shoots the English pilot who bailed out and is hanging defenceles on his parachute.
And since the world of eve is filled with them why do we have pods at all?
CAN I HAVE MY SHIP WITHOUT POD PLEASE? SPARE ME THE INSULT AND KILL ME WITH MY SHIP! And let me rest in peace forever.
Not that I'm planning to get killed ever again. But just in case.
I'm not against PvP far from it, but please do it with style. Pick on people your own size.
Honnor and heroics does it exist in EVE? I wonder.

Your story about adventures in Syndicate is quite interesting to read and fun! Now you see - it's a lot of fun to do something crazy and wild in the game, be it kamikaze freight service or mining alone in a hauler in 0.0. And the most unbelievably stupid and 0.001% chance of working scenarios have a habit of turning out to be a fun expierience often. Maybe now you understand all those people in armed ships going to look for adventures. They are like you, only they go one step further and actually do something if they get bored or somebody ruins their previous way of playing

Edited by: Ulverious on 25/09/2004 16:51:35 Well I’m staying after all – having so much fun in 0.0 space were that lack of implants seems an advantage more then anything else.
The deciding episode was this: I was hiding with a gang member from pirates in a belt. Eventually she got tired of waiting and asked the pirates to leave her alone for half an hour since she had to go help her childern make their Magic – the gathering deck. The reaction from the pirats was something like this:
“You are helping your kids make their magic deck? – I want you to be my mommy!!!”
Needlss to say no one touched her after that.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m having a lot of fun and as for me getting blown up is not much of a dettering anymore. In fact the only place were I have a shadow of a chance to recoupitade my losses is 0.0 space and, yes, the income is better, even when deducting the cost of replacing ships.
Anyway, the only time I’ve ever gotten podded is by that murding basterd in .9 space so who is to say it is more risky anywhy

Ill foward 5mil your way too. If I may add, Im not sure how you are deciding to play eve now, since you said you only like to play the 'safe' aspect of the game by mining and not being bothered, but since your moving into 0.0 . I hope you understand you will die quite a few amounts of times and things wont be so easy unless you join a good corp that can help you out. There are 0.0 mining corps you know maybe give those a try. Also, Making isk is far too easy in this game, of course it depends on what you choose to make isk. personally im closing in on a bil and i havent reached the 2 month mark playing this game. _________________________________________________ <3 hi |

Ulverious, nice to read, that u won`t quit after all. It would have been very sad, if you`d given that moron, who killed you, the sadisfaction, to drive you out of this game. And forget about implants. You don`t need them. Might take you a bit longer to complete skilltraining, but you don`t have to care about loosing them, when you get killed. I have all learning skills on lvl 5 and i`m waiting for the advanced skills to continue. That should do it. Get yourself into a kestrel. Best ship to have fun in 0.0 without using expensive tech II or namend stuff.

Once again thanks guys. Really touched.
Been playing 2 months and closing on a billion? Can I get a job with whomever you are working for? What are you called ôThe Rich Kids?ö ôThe silver spoons?ö I bet your ship is named moneyspinner. Anyway, could you send me some sign-up info?
Yes I fully realize that I shouldnÆt use implants or fly expensive ships in 0.0 space. IÆm a new man. No longer Mr. Play It Safe, you are looking at Dangerman!!!!!!! Getting blown up in a cheap ship with no implants isnÆt really stressful at all since it doesnÆt hurt you more then the worth of a single haul of minerals. And of course being able to recklessly ignore danger does make for some nicer profits.
No danger of losing expensive named items û IÆm flying around armed with mining lasers II and basic mining drones. HavenÆt put any guns on my ship since I got murdered. In a couple of million skill points that may change of course

Aye, losing s ahip or clone can be a very distressing thing indeed.
When I first started playing the game, I mined for what seemed like an eternity and bought my fist Moa cruiser.
I barely had enough skills to fly it, let alone use it properly.
I then flew out into below .5 space to try hunting some NPC cruisers, because I was bored with frigates and wanted a challenge.
On the first day I had it, in the first hour, I was shipkilled by a couple of PC rats. I was so frustrated, I considered just quitting.
I made a post about it, and the pirates that killed me wired me enough money to buy a new cruiser, and gave me a warning:
"Stay out of unsafe space until you're ready."
Needless to say, I heeded their advice and here I am, months later, with millions of skill points and a Battleship.
No matter what we do to each other in-game, there's always an underlying basic human kindness which permeates most everyone. If more folks would express that, I can't imagine what kind of gaming experience we would all have.
By the way, I'm in a shipbuilding corporation that primarily mines and hunts NPC's. Check us out at
Hadean Drive Yards
If you enjoy mining/hauling and some good friendships, we might be someplace you can hang your hat.
Good luck to you, and remember, it's just a game. Don't get too invested... You're going to die a few times here and there, once you accept that, it will be a lot more fun.

Yeah i remember this incident as i was one of the pirates that podkilled you and was actually the one who sent you the money.
Gungankllr has a valid point, its still just a game, and you will get killed more than once, hell i got podkilled in a 0.5 system the first time by some guy that didnt feel like playing eve anymore and just went havoc with a gank kessie (cruisemissiles) and i had a outdated clone. It sucked, but i realised that **** happens, and moved on.
Point is, the "griefers" (this is not reffering to pirates, i used to be one and they serve their part in this game just like every other role) but, the ones that play just to ruin for someone else, like declaring war on n00bs in empire are few, and have little to no respect in this game by anyone.
When i realised that Gungan was a pure n00b(no pun intended gungan) and i might just have ruined his entire experience with eve i agreed with scorpyn(the other pirate that killed gungan) to give him money to buy a new moa.
It was my choice and i killing some lost soul that couldnt defend himself didnt really interest me anyway. Its a game, and most of the community is old and mature enough to realise this. Even if we shoot eachother and kill eachother in game we still show respect(most of the time) and take it for what it is. There is no point in taking things personal in this game, smackers and griefers are just sad, because that just shows that they do take... a computer game... personal.
pick yourself up and keep playing, its worth it every step of the way, and the awesome and cool ppl you meet in this game greatly overweight the sad sad ppl that need computer games to feel cool and special.
Its a great game with an awesome playerbase, you will understand if you keep playing. If you give up because you got killed once this game is not for you. ------------------------------------------------

Nah,
I should have learned more about the game before I went out into unsafe space. After playing for a few months I look back and realize how retarted that day was
But for real, that was a kind thing you and your buddy did for me back then. It's strange that I be thanking someone for podding me, but it was an important lesson learned.
Just don't do it too often or you'll never earn any money
