hey hey
dunno where to start so i guess i'll say what ive liked the best over the years.
Angel Strike awesome mission and the epic 10x part mission with a lengthy and involved storyline really drew me into missions. its varying nature or mission types was great and the final challenge and being told not to kill the battleships as they totally wtf bbqued you was awesome.
Recon this mission made me lol every day and hearing about ships getting obliterated because it was totally new and was outside the box for capsuleers. great mission
AE (old school) the mass room to room environment and the variety of shiptypes and ranges was challenging. the bonus room was always a little ouchie. again a great mission.
Blockade (all versions) loved the old school version when it was at a gate in open space (shame it led to griefing)
love the new one where they seem to jump in from the gate and the style never changed just moved to deadspace. always a challenging mission. always fun to take n00bs on it and mass agro everything for ****s and giggles.
Portal to war >> in the midst of deadspace (early versions) the portal to war L3 mission was really cool and also killed alot of ships :/ having to kill a fair ammount of ships and still make it in time before the "fleet arrived" managed to set the bar for capsullers it was do or die and again a decent challenge.
in the midst of deadspace (L4) STARTED with that fleet from L3 + friends. a challenge didnt begin to describe the difficulty level. also with a decent storyline and also caldaris to kill added to the difficulty level.

good mechanics = good missions
i much prefered having to agro manage rather than trigger manage. trigger management means you can predict everything, count every missile, reduce the number of ships to fight.
having missions that are now excessivly predictable has totally ruined the pve experience (for me) and has allowed blitzing to become the norm rather than the exception and to some degree aided the macro problem.
you guys often tout the "hunderds of missions" to sell your game but in reality the mission pool is fubar and you always get the same very limited missions repeating themselves over and over and over. missions are also racially based and enemies abound and worlds collide are effectivly the same mission. same with the extravaganzas. multiple styles of the same mission i can see the point but please dont sell them as hundreds of missions. the mission pool per faction, per level is tiny and ergo the random_number_generator has such a restricted soruce you get the repetition repetition.
need for speedÖ has killed PVE and the missions that were previously hard or immersive have been ganked so hard that they are a shadow of their former selves. i see that lag plays a big part but eventually we are gonna see 1 big bad mutha ****a BS to kill and nothing else :/
i think you guys need a complete rethink and come up with new and wonderfull mechanics. ive always said eve has such a rich and diverse enviromment and has such scope and possibilites but is let down by poor pve mechanics.

something i love Vs something i hate. . .
Faction missions have been the best missions to do and i really love that i can RP to some degree without wearing my wizards robe and having my staff by my side. the faction backstory has generated some exciting storyline content and their npcs are suh fun to kill. i have no issues with the standings and fully see that it is my choice to fight for the empire and kill the hoodie scum. unfortunatly faction missions have are totally biased in their rewards.
again its a bad mechanic, tag collecting sucks and is a total time sink to get the isk. looting isnt fun in ANY way. for tags to have some relevence and to work around the pointless isk side. they need to have more value added to them. the LP store requires loads but the faction missions arent abundant enough. the tag trade has tag > isk or LP item but thats all. i feel it needs something more.
also the penalties are insane. your standings tank really fast on the naval missions and the rewards to get negative standings are non existant. not to epeen or not to sound selfish .. . I WANT something for my troubles. I WANT something more exclusive (not even expensive) I WANT my empire to show their love for me and thank me for killing the Amarr.
Loyalty isnt rewarded and the penalties for standing holes arent balanced enough. just read the forums and you can see how much faction missions are often hated. the small few of us who love them no longer have any real reason to except for the joy of it.

one of my bigest gripes with the agent/mission system is that the divisional variences suck donkey ballZ, sorry but they do..
mining missions were introduced but mining agents give kill missions and vice versa. courier mission agent divisions give a mix of all three.
i would also love to see a total rewrite of the divisions and the new mission styles get moved to a more specific agent division.
command fleet division - FACTIONAL BASED missions command combat division - anti pirate missions Mining division - mining missions Adminiistration and haullage division - courier missions.
moving the missions to more specific departments can create its ovbious problems but when we already workaround it why fight it ? it would also spread the hubs about a little more as you can control agents and reshuffle them to spread divisional distribution. with a divisional change you can also improve the lp store alongside it. mining gear/implants can go to the mining store and factional items go to the faction lp stores. combat items to the combat divisional corps etc. this would also add more a storyline benefit to lp stores and agents etc.
btw elephantine haull mission and other epically large haull missions are easier now freighters are commonplace. :)
a small note that previously you would only fight your racial ememy pirate but the missions were relaxed and we could fight bloods and sanshas in matari space while this was new and exciting the standings buggered it up and the RP element suffered. it also caused the non return route to good standings for pirates :/
again a divisional change could see the move back to fighting your enemy pirates and give players an rp route into npc 0.0 and not suffer with the standings fubar.

not sure if this is a thread for debates but the drone thing is npc dependent and i think cameron is more pointing out that the current mechanics have some mission npcs that eat the drones like they are covered in chocolate and the drone survivability is non existant
you clearly point out that some missions are inbalanced in that you can afk in an ishtar/dominix
the balance between the two isnt always clear and mission mechanics are often balanced with a house brick and not a grain of sand :/
im in favor of the first variety and the frigates that specifically target your drones are an anoyance and can be hard to counter considering they are frigates but offer an element of skill and drone control. the afk dominix thing sucks. and maybe the drone killers could be added to more missions but toned down in number. the "elite" ships have the ewar but the drone eaters seem to be mostly specific pie frgates.
i actually liked the addition of the elite ewar npc's. and maybe this could be built upon and additional "drone eaters" and tier 3 BS's etc if npc's had reality style mods then mega ranged ewar from recon ship npcs adds immersion.
you could also add comand ships that have an active gang bonus and will make npc's harder then easier if you primary the command/logistic ships

Quote: Or better yet SoCT Faction ammo (same stats, but with Ooh Shiny! factor.)
yes yes,
nothing with any real added value just something more shiny and shows that YOU achieved it. . . even an npc awarded medal.

Originally by: Scout Bob Biggest thing I would LOVE to see with agents is. A faction totally not related to the four main factions. I mean there are sub categories, but it is always still just one of the main factions.
can you elaborate please ?
Main Factions Amarr Caldari Minmatar Gallente
Sub Factions/Side Factions Ammatar Khanid Sisters of Eve
Pirate Factions Angel Blood Guristas Serpentis Sanshas ORE
and many more . .
you can already work for the pirate factions and use their technology to some degree. did you not know this ? or have i misinterpreted what you were aiming for ? maybe EOM, FON etc could be added as factions and not just "terriorists" a new Terrorist Faction Group could be interesting and if they had more neutrality (non interference with the main 4) im unclear tbh in what you ment. but you CAN already work for those pesky pirates.
as to solo in 0.0 its totally possible as the npc controlled regions arent docking restricted. when i lived in both curse and stain there were many locals who managed to play with the pirate factions. hostile as hell but they still managed.
