Recently downloaded the eve test server client and installed it to a seperate folder from my main eve. Have had no problems with previous few patches but the last one even tho I patched it to the seperate folder I cant log in due to incompatible build. On login screen it says tranquility instead of singularity.
Any help would be appreciated

Edited by: Siuxia on 26/06/2009 19:44:30 I have got the same problem too, I'm running Windows 7 RC, I followed the install instructions to the letter. But the patch I installed has patched both my versions of EVE to the new version.
Originally by: "CCP Petition"
I followed all the steps laid out here http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=33 for the install of the test server running singlularity. The test server runs fine but after patching, the orignal eve install is now patched as well. I *DID* set the correct path for the patch install to a copied instance of the EVE folder. I am running Windows 7 RC is the install process for Win 7 likely to cause problems??
Help as I'd like to run both servers, but with out having to install the old version everytime I run the test server.

To fix it, go to the location where your EVE test server installation is. Create a shortcut to the .exe file that opens up EVE. Right click and go to properties. In the box that is labeled "Target", add this to the end of the string: /server:87.237.38.50
Then just use the shortcut and you're good to go!

Go to the Test Server Information Listing thread that's stickied at the top of the board. Scroll down to the section that says "How to connect to Singularity". The picture there shows you what it should look like.

Currently the Test server Singularity (SiSi) runs a different release (93706) then the Live server Tranquility (TQ), which runs release 89883.
So this is what you need to do to get access to SiSi
Assuming you have a Windows system and have installed your EVE (TQ) client "Out-of-the-box"- Copy your <EVE TQ Directory> to a <EVE SiSi Directory> (Something like "C:\Program Files\CCP\SiSi" or in my cause D:\Games\CCP\SiSi
- Download & Run patch TQ -> SiSi 89883->93706 (12.29MB)
- Copy your "EVE" Desktop shortcut and rename it "SiSi" (or whatever you like),
- Then right-click it, select properties,
- in the 'Target' field you will notice something like "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" or in my cause D:\Games\CCP\TQ\eve.exe.
change this, so it is associated with the SiSi 'eve.exe'. Like "C:\Program Files\CCP\SiSi\eve.exe" or in my cause D:\Games\CCP\SiSi\eve.exe, and add the parameter /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50. Like "C:\Program Files\CCP\SiSi\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50 or in my cause D:\Games\CCP\SiSi\eve.exe /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50 - Press the OK button to keep these changes.
That should do it..!
To have the best chance on maintaining a working SiSi client, I follow these 3 rules.
1) I always keep a 'previous release' copy of SiSi besides my current TQ and current SiSi client. This enabled me more than once to 'roll-back' a 'challenged' SiSi patch :) 2) I always check the EVE û Server Status and Server Versions sites, for new releases. 3) I only download the manual patches http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/test/evepremiumpatch<previous_release>-<current_release>_test_m.exe
I hope this is of any use to you.
Ps. Please make sure you have read the Test Server bans and rules sticky.

I'm running windows 7 also, and the last time I patched to Sisi only the link in the Games folder was wrong (CCP's patcher changes the default Win 7 shortcut to sisi). Simply make a new shortcut to the EVE launcher of your original install directory and you'll be good to go.
