You know you want it...
The call to war goes up.
You dock in station.
You open the paint shop window, and change the hue of your ship to the Alliance designated Blue.
You undock, and form up with all your buddies in the mass of blue metal.
You fleet-warp to the combat zone, to see in the distance a mass of red metal staring back at you.
The lag kicks in, the brackets come off, the blob of both warring fleets come together.
You zoom out to see an over-all idea of numbers on each side by looking at the red/blue ratio.
You see the blue ships become more predominant in the ball of ships, your side must be winning...
...then you notice green ships warping in to sniping range...
Im not asking for fully customizable hull skins, no stickers or vinyl or (somehow) interstellar ship bling bling. Just an adjustable hue bar with all the colors of the rainbow. |

As far as i know, for the big fights alot of pilots (including myself) remove friends from their overview in order to make primaries easier to find. That, coupled with the removed brackets, makes it near impossible to keep track of friendly numbers without constantly checking Fleet chat. This is just a practical side of custom ship colors, theres also the fun factor. |

OP's sollution seems to be a lot simpler than most other new ship colour ideas.
