It's not just this i think OP is talking about, if you say; kill a cruiser with a 5 man cruiser gang and he pops really quickly (within 1 or 2 seconds) It will only register about 500 damage on him and one or two persons shooting him, the rest on the killmail all get 0 dmg even if they were landing hits. |

What sniperwolf says, I've lost cruisers with 20,000 buffer that only come up as taken 4000 damage or something.
I thought it was using resists as well but even without resists it's often stil way too low. |

Bug has been around a while, but CCP stated in patch notes that it had been fixed. It has not been fixed. Killmails are way off on damage these days.

I didn't notice it happening much until after the last major patch, but yeah, its beginning to get pretty annoying.

Yeah, EFT says that you have 20,000 buffer, but your ship only takes 4k damage before it dies. Reason being is that the resistances negate enough damage, that it takes longer to reach that 4k and thus the enemy actually has to do 20,000 damage to deal 4,000 damage to your ship. the other 16,000 damage is negated because of resist. Like how a buffer raven has over 120 some EHP, but when I get the mail it says I took 36k some damage
Iz cauz I haz only 36k hit points, but it takes alot of your damage to take those away, since im ignoring alot of it.
As for OP, killmail system does appear glitchy from time to time, some mails I have show that ships werent even fit, others show toons in wierd ships they werent flying at the time, or even shows people that werent there. Ive seen a killmail on a ratter who never left system, and after the first attempt to gank him failed, hours and hours later, the seconds attempt actually kept all the players that were from the first gank. Cause the system tracks all damage dealt to a person until that person goes through a session change |

More like all the time since Apocrypha.
Yes, killmails preserve participants as long as session is not changed. Ships are usually what they are flying on the moment killmail is produced. The only thing we are discussing here is the amount of damage made which has not been working since Apocrypha.
I, for one, would like an explanation why this has not been fixed yet. If it is a new feature reducing lag or something remove damage taken completely because there is no use for it.
