Is it possible to solo a level 5 mission? What kind of ship would you need? What are the bountys like?

I have heard it is yes, I even tanked on solo on sisi for awhile in a Dominix (wasn't trying to finish it just wanted to see what kind of DPS I would see). Ships wise the most common I have heard of are the Bighthawk and the Ishtar, both Passive Sheild Tanked. Bounties wqise the mission I tested didn't have any as it was faction but the lp for the mission I tested was almost 50,000. ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. Yes and no. In 0.0 space ruled by your alliance or corp, you can likely do it without getting scanned down and killed by hostiles. In low sec it would be nuts. You can get a low sec agent next to high sec to give you a L5 in high sec though. For that you need a really well tanked BS and some serious RR. You can use an alt then to "Solo". Most people use a logistics ship for RR like a Basilisk though a Scimitar has its proponents as well. As for the offensive ship I see people recommend anything from well tanked faction to Marauders. Its down to available fittings and skills in the end.
It is expensive in fittings and vessels to do it this way instead of splitting it between 2 or 3 people. ***By coffee alone I set my mind in motion, by the beans of Java thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning, by coffee alone I set my mind in motion.*** |

Navy Apoc. - (scout your paths) Cloak 700+ DPS @ 120km
At 120km, some NPC's will still reach, but the damages will be minimal and easy to manage with minor resists and active repping.
Stay aligned(safe spot), keep an eye on local, good luck getting the goods back to safety! |

I was wondering about this too.
I heard people in zero space use Capitals to solo. I can imagine it being quite impossible soloing such a mission other than in a capital ship.
Multiboxing a support ship does not count as "soloing" in my oppinion. |

Thats interesting, so whats the deal with those level 5s these days ?
I recall sometime ago they were only available in low sec, or at least combat agents were only available in low sec. Did they change it now ?
So they are available in high sec as well ?

There are no L5 agents in hisec currently, but if you can find one in a losec system close to hisec you can get missions in hisec from the losec agent. For a lot of missions they send you quite a few systems away (like 6-8), so chances are good you'll end up with at least some L5 missions in hisec. So you only need to visit the agent in the losec station to grab missions, and decline the ones in losec.
Are they possible to solo? Yes. Some L5's you can complete in a solid passive Nighthawk truely solo (single account). They take a while, but they're doable. You should still be able to finish them before the bonus timer expires. People who have two or more accounts can also be considered 'solo' in the sense that it's one player, but using two ships (one tank and one gank/support).
For most missions there are no bounties since you're fighting empire faction ships or drones. The main income comes from LP and loot/salvage. Obviously that also means you're taking significant standings hits by running missions against empire factions, so take that into accout.

I should rephrase that, I know a lvl 5 agent who only gives missions in highsec. |

Nope. That's why you need a scout, and good skills to maintain one. But... it is dooable! |
