Edited by: Pestin on 09/06/2009 09:47:46 I am going to be training to an Ishtar shortly, all other skills aside, which is going to be more important to get from level 4 to level 5 first: drone interfacing, heavy drones (for Ogre II's), or sentry drones (for Garde II's)?
Right now I am thinking heavy drones V, then drones interfacing V, and then sentry drone V. I just would like some input while I am planning my training queue.
Also, this is mainly for PvE purposes. |

and if you consider driving capital ship after,up the advanced dronne interfacing. |

Well, aside from the two conflicting opinions so far, I guess I should also mention what I found out from EFT. Ranked in order of best listed DPS:
Ogre II (Heavy Drone V) Garde II (Sentry Drone Interfacing V) Ogre I (Drone Interfacing V) == Berserker II (Heavy Drone V) Berserker II (Drone Interfacing V)
Just from the numbers, I should get one of the tech 2 skills first, then Drone Interfacing V, then the other tech 2 skill. But this is just from numbers. In a PvE setting, what is the more practical approach? According to these numbers getting Minmatar Drone Specialization IV for the Berserkers does not seem as efficient or helpful. I know the Minmatar drones are much faster, but does this make up for the large discrepancy in listed DPS?
Input? Suggestions? Experiences? |

Edited by: Qua9mire on 09/06/2009 11:39:43 When I was looking at those skills I decided to do the Heavy 5 first, mainly as it is the bulk skill for unlocking t2 Heavy drones, after this is did interfacing to 5 as that packs a serious punch. After that, I didnĘt really go onto sentries for a while, I did the racial skills to 4/5 as it again gives that little extra punch to the t2 drones.
As far as drones and PVE i haev always used the drone that is best suited for the mission, using EM drone for Blood Raiders etc.

This way is imo better, interfacing gives 20% more damage per level so I suspect haveing it at 5 will make a T1 heavy as strong as a T2 heavy with interfacing at 4. At work right now so cannot do a check.

The question has no simple answer as it's based on ship setup and how you plan to fly the ship.
If you are going to fit 3 omni-directional tracking links and be more or less stationary (similar to my domi fit) then sentries, interfacing and heavy drones is a good order, but if you prefer to use drones that run around and use drone nav links then train heavies, interfacing and then sentries if you think you want sentries.
It really depends on how your going to fit and use your ship. |

it wasn't listed but electronic warfare drone interfacing to 4/5 should be up there in your plan as well. |

do drone interfacing at second, because from it only gives you 20% damage increase, while using a tech ii drone gives you the base +20% plus the 8% of the specialization skill, so you are better that way.
for the problem, first sentry or heavies, skill that fits your playstyle better, both have their advantages.

Don't forget that t2 drones travels faster, have mor hp, etc. :p |

Edited by: Lukriss on 14/06/2009 09:25:00 You guys are forgetting something, just because Drone Interfacing gives 20% bonus to drone damage per level, doesn't mean that your drone damage is increased by 20%
Remember, that the actual increase that you'll see from training it to V will be the damage difference between IV and V, in more mathematical terms:
Increase = Damage at V / Damage at IV = 2 / 1.8 = 1,11...
So the actual increase in damage from Interfacing is just slightly above 11%. Switching to T2 drones will yield a whole lot more.
First of there's the 20% base increase over T1 drones. Secondly there's the 4.1% damage increase from heavy drones (1.25/1.2) Tiertiary there's the Racial drone skill yielding another 8% damage. Quartiary (?! is that even a word, if anyone knows what the correct term is pls by all means tell me) there's other stats than pure damage that's better in T2 drones I believe (tracking, speed, hp etc).
But if we just look at it from a damage POV, we get that the T2 drones get a damage increase of 1.041 * 1.2 * 1.08 = 1.35 That's a 35% Damage increase of getting T2 heavies, vs a 11% increase from the Drone Interfacing V.
Now 1 thing to remember is that getting heavies will require training at least 1 of the drone racials to IV, which is a bit of added time, (4 days or so?). But I'd still say it's worth getting Heavy Drone Operation V before Drone Interfacing V. |
