Basically - file sharing/group editing/IM, with "we're awesome" google spin. |

Haha, when I first heard about it, it was in the form of a joke:
"Microsoft announced that they were releasing a brand new 'state of the art' search engine.
Google announced that they were reinventing email.
Owned." |

well, hard to explain in a few words, but ill try..
its the new "Email", you can have IM + Image sharing, video embedding, can share work sheets and easily edit in them, at the same time. you can use it together with other things, such as twitter or blogs. and its all in real time, ea when you type, the others see it in close to real time, character for character, image for image.
it will have an API so people can build their own mods for it, like instant translating and more.. really worth watching the video.. |

just watched the full demo ...phew !.it does look very very spiffy and google claim that its going to be open source and free which is fair do`s ... but companies like google dont give away tools such as this for nothing .the suspicious side of me say`s something isnt right it would be well handy for a lot of the stuff i do for work and at work from the instant messaging side of things and the document source control feature of it kisses goodbye to applications such as visual source safe and clearcase and others so in this respect its cool
but its google ....and theres no such thing as a free pint
destroy everything you touch |

sooo, google earth and google maps are not free, google maps was made by the same people..
they will get their money in another way, ads, companies or something else.
google have a lot of free aps, to mention a few i use.
google search google maps google mail google docs google calendar iGoogle
most of them have small text ads, which is fine with me, as long as its not flash banners, i dont mind them, heck i even click them since i find some of them useful.

Fixed your post. Google gets money from those little ads on blogs and their search engine. Miraculously, that seems to be enough to create an army of cars and pay people to take roadtrips with them:

well, its open source, so i guess people could make plugins so it work with other apps. such as PS or 3dmax. |

Only 10 minutes or so in but.. When adding someone to a wave what if you don't want them to see what was said before... You want to bring them into the conversation but don't want them to see what was said about them, for whatever reason.
However...
Google Wave or MSN Messenger, it will be interesting. |
