I don't know.
But let me ask you this; how many other MMOs let you play multiple characters on the same account at the same time (and thus leveling/improving skills)? ________

I dont know, this is my first and only MMO.
But seems like the most obvious answer is "profits." Which is a non-game issue. Personally, with the dedicated playerbase this game has, I doubt it would affect profits any. ___________________________________________________ Idea: Train 3 alts at the same time solution. |

It would have dramatic effect on gameplay tho, new player buys gtc, sells it, buys one of the 900,000 spare chars that established pilots are selling, no incentive to start or train a new char again, except for being able to select the name.

I beg to differ. I've got 4 accounts, and thus 4 alts. If I could train 3 of these on the same account, CCP would be getting $45 less a month from me.

Actually, yes. And please, again, tell me the other MMOs on the market that would allow you to level/train multiple characters on the same account and at the same time? My sig don't fracking work. |

Largely irrelevant, as other major MMORPGs level skills actively, not by simply pushing "TRAIN NOW" and waiting X min/hours/days. In World of WarCraft, if I want to train my weapon skills, I equip that weapon (making sure I can) and then go hit things. If I want to train Alchemy profession, I get materials and make pots, etc, until I get the point I want it at. In Eve Online, if I want to fly a Thrasher, I have to push TRAIN NOW on Minmatar Frigate to IV, make sure Spaceship Command is at III, then Destroyers to I. I could log off entirely between pushing TRAIN NOW. There's no interaction other than the initial right-click -> Train to Level 1/2/3/4/5.
In fact, there are people that dedicate an account to that. Just train a character and sell it when it's at a good point. No interaction. No actually playing the character. Guy in a noobship with the skills to fly a faction-fitted CNR or something. Very different from other major MMORPGs.

Would be nice to be able to train multiple characters on a single account with the training time being split (i.e. 2 chars training with 50% speed reduction each (like you suggest in your thread)).
Not sure how that would look with attributes and things, but it would be nice.

No, it is not irrelevant at all.
In fact, training skils with a simple push of a button and a time delay is the irrelevant matter here.
Whether I train by pushing Astrometrics Lvl 4 to go automatically for 3 days, or I actively equip my fishing rod on alt # 3 in WoW and fish for 3-4 days to grind out the last couple skill points, the point of the matter is I'm only improving one character per account. That is the MMO Standard model. If I want to improve my weapon skill on alt #2, I need to stop lvling my fishing on alt #3 to do so. Same with EVE; same with all pay to play MMOs. ________

You are confusing the method of training a skill with the ability to train a skill. Two very different things and it makes your argument moot.
Take it down to the basic level. A character on an account can train a skill, or as in other MMO's, gains experience thus training a skill or levelling up. Ergo, training a skill in Eve is equal to gaining experience or training in other MMO's.
In Eve you can only play ONE character on THE SAME account at any one time. In other MMO's you can only play ONE character on THE SAME account at any one time.
Tell us all how this is so wrong?

This would be 100% pointless. I have not read his thread but take this example.
I want to train 2 characters each with a skill that takes 1 week to train.
In the current model, that would take 2 weeks: character 1 trains for 1 week then pauses; character 2 trains for 1 week and then training goes back to main. Total training time = 2 weeks.
The proposed model: Both characters train at a 50% reduction. Both characters take 2 weeks (simultaneously of course) to train thier skills. Total training time = 2 weeks.
End result is the same so I ask you this:
What the **** is the point? ________

The point is that you dont need to log in on one account, stop skill, log out, log in, start skill. You then cant use the queue for the switchback so you have to wait for the skill to finish - like the bad old days. Log in, start skill. Its not much skill time lost but its a long road to a simple result.
That said i proposed a more elegant solution a while ago which was simply: let skill queue switch between alts. So you choose the skill and which character its training on from any character on the account. Simples. Probably cut load on the log server as well.

i think its to push you towards making up your mind and actually have a "main" character.
however, since all of us are treated same, its all fair and no reason to make a fuss about it.

Now that Ghost training has been removed ages ago I see no reason why they cannot allow you to train two characters on one account.
OH WAIT, maybe its because CCP are greedy and are trying to make more money!
they will NEVER allow training of another char on your account because they won't make anything out of it.
Greedy is the word of the day :(
Fair enough remove ghost training, but give us SOMETHING rather then a small skill queue that fills up in like 24h worth of skill - LAME.

set a 30 day skill training just before your account was disable (not paying) and then enable (pay) the account 29 days later with the skill finished.
Or training while not paying.

So they're greedy because you lost a free ride and since they do exactly the same as the rest of the industry? Hmmm…
Honestly, I don't see the confusion here: you can actively train one character per account in EVE, just like in every other MMO. What's so strange about that?

Also the skill queue can take a rank 1 skill from 0 to lvl 5, very convenient.

actually it seems you can have multiple characters on the same account training at the same time, but it's a bug of sorts. If one character on the account is training, and you buy another character which is also training and have it transferred to that account both will keep training until you log in to any character that is training on that account or until either skill finishes training ...
Bugreport submitted.

1. Priorities?
2. You know how much you pay to transfer a char?
