Well so far I've been using a Nighhawk and been able to solo Class 1-4's with no problem. And I LOVE the nighthawk, don't get me wrong. But Is there another ship out there that performs better? ...Can tank well and sill cranks out good dps? Is there a ship that can do all that and still fit a tractor beam, salvager and MWD or AB without sacrificing too much tank and still remain cap stable? Or maybe I'm asking for too much. I dunno.

Drake. nearly identical dps, and more mid slots. it also costs next to nothing.

Switch the 4th gun for a salvager and you have basically what you want.
If you want to fit a codebreaker and analyzer you need to go to harbinger or a CS.
Edit: I look down upon the cap stability requirement nowdays simply b/c it seems to silly. It's hard to achieve, and who cares if your cap lasts 10 minutes or forever going balls out... Look at it this way...if you are using cap weapons like hybrids or lasers, you're never guaranteed to run your weapons 100% of the time and so cap stability is KIND OF achieved.
Here's a BC fit I threw together. [Harbinger, WH copy 1] Damage Control II Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Medium Armor Repairer Domination Medium Armor Repairer Amarr Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Amarr Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane

Paladin ftw. Good tank, good dps, enough cap and you can fit a salvager, tractor and RR in the highs :)

I run WH's in a pod. You don't have to tank if the NPC's don't shoot at you. Also, you can insta-warp if any pirates jump in and try to attack you. It works just as well in class 1-6!

So how about other real answers? The pod? funny. The other one word responses? useless. Please expand upon those statements.

Its all depends on what you want to run and with howmany ppl in gang. The drake is awesome cause of it versatility and durability but its dirt slow. For solo work I wouldnt take a Drake tho.

I've been able to solo Class 1 and 2 using a passive Drake. I have not dared a class 3 and feel I am unready for it. In class 2, radar sites can get a bit over the top if I do not leave the trigger ship (hard to tell unless I am missing something obvious). I was able to solo a class 2 mag site, but I did have a wonderful pulsar giving me a +44% shield bonus. That was awesome.
Only problems I have is that my DPS is fairly low against them, therefore it can take a bit long to do it solo. My support skills are not up to snuff, but what I have no has been adequate for the moment. Finally, make use of invulnerability shields as those buggers use every damage type in the book.

Edited by: Rip Minner on 03/06/2009 15:27:00 personly I'm in favor of the Amarr ship line becouse all damg is equel in wh space with every ship npc or other wise omin-tanking. And lazers being the best for guns/ammo/and saving cargo space for salvge/loot leting me keep looking for the next wh to the next wh rather then looking for the next wh to k-space.
My personal liked ships being the Harbringer and Apoc.

I've run class 3's solo in a drake. You can passive tank most sites (with a few warp outs) and take on up to 4 cruisers, popping them fast enough to be ok (with a t2 setup and t1 ammo).

This is right, doing it in a drake is a slow process, and if pirates decide to jump in and "help," your only chance of survival is to be lucky enough to be out of warp scram range and able to align/warp out before they close.

I have used a Phoon for class 3's: I fit an analyzer, codebreaker, salvager, 2X t2 800's, 4Xheavy launchers, active armor tank, and a t2 afterburner, and probe launcher, was able to tank all the site types, and used 17 t2 light drones to kill the little guys.
