Being new to EvE, I was hanging around in a 1.0 system mining. When I returned to the station the area was littered with wrecks, one still unlooted. Naturally I checked it out. Got me a medium neutron blaster and about 1,000 rounds of depleted uranium. Not to bad for having to hide in the station for 14 minuets. When I leave the station I notice a container floating around with 230 units of cordite, with the same guy I just robbed a few thousand kilometers away.
I've come away from this experience with two things- Stupid people will remain stupid.
And, if your going to try and bait someone, have some actual bait.
The real reason I'm sharing is because I wanna know how often this type of thing happens, I enjoy a good battle of the wits, not... whatever that was.

A lot.. However, when its done in non noob systems its so you can get some highsec PvP action.. You will typically find a single round of ammo or a cap booster or something equally as useless..
If you enjoy robbing people I recomend you talk to my good friends in Suddenly Ninjas. I'm sure one will be along shortly to give you their web address as I have no idea what it is.

To be fair, that guy's bait obviously worked if you took it. The real stupidity test is whether or not you undock in a poorly fitted or non-combat ship before your theft flag expires, and stick around long enough for him to tackle you.
What he was doing is actually rather effective in many cases. It's effective so often that it's what we spent a lot of our time doing in between merc contracts back in 2008 before we left high sec behind for piracy. It isn't especially exciting when a random passerby takes the stuff though. People who can bait are looking for one or both of the following: 1. easy kill (more common) 2. fight with someone who wants a 1v1 and actually trusts the guy not to have corp-mates undock and attack once the fight commences (quite rare)

I'd been stealing the noob equipment that people seem to love to ditch. (It's crap, I know. My reasoning was that with twice as many miner I can mine twice as fast.) But no, I didn't fall for his trap.

Yeah, I heard those guys are awesome. Apparently they can be found somewhere near here. Or just head to Dodixie and follow the sound of mission runners crying. Keep your enemies close, then you need a shorter stick. |

I really don't like highsec PvP. It is so annoying because it is too easy for people to run away.
Also there are remote reppers everywhere, who RR people you fight for no reason at all.
And people usually scan your ship beforehand and fit resists for what damage you deal and fit for what damage type your ship is weak against.
Just go to lowsec. That way you can steal from people and shoot them without their permission. ------------------------------------- My other alt is a Ferrari |

I think it's more apropriate to ask "how often are they not". All of the time is fairly close, but no banana. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

Honestly, there seems to be some sort of a bottomless supply of morons in EVE. It makes me worry about the fate of humanity.

I've got that beat... My gang of 3 (assault frig, Astarte and Geddon) engaged a gang of 8 war targets flying 2 battleships, a few cruisers, and various other stuff. As we warped in on top of them and began engaging them, 3 began returning fire, while the remaining 5 docked up.
I expected the 5 to undock in remote repping battle ships, but they didn't. They stayed docked up until they logged off later that day. Meanwhile, the 2 of the 3 who engaged us quickly lost their ships, as they were completely fail-fitted. One managed to warp off.
One of the ships was a rigged Arbitrator, and the pilot was apparently so distraught over the loss, that he warped his pod out, warped back to the station, and undocked in an Abaddon. The Abaddon went down surprisingly quickly, and we discovered later on that it had no modules in its midslots and lowslots, and a mixture of beam and pulse lasers in its highslots.
One of the most wtf fights I've ever had.

My dad used to work in the delivery business (well I did before as well, uhm, genetical flaw I guess). Well, he saw some hot ladies when he moved in to deliver some package (oh the irony). Well, he did a handbreak turn, unclipped his seat belt and jumped out of the door same time and.. got stuck with his wrist in the seat belt. Landed with one leg under the car, the other inside, and his privates, ugh, somewhere inbetween. Girls pointed and laughed.
Well I guess I got stories to tell my therapist. You can blame your mom I guess, while I blame my dad. *cries*
