Ok So I've got two accounts originally for getting more from mining ops but thats getting old now and I've been running missions/scanning down sites.
Neither account has a huge amount of SP but account (B) has only half the amount of account (A)
Whats the best way to approach this? Two gun/drone boats both repping themselves or one doing all the shooting while the other remote reps?
As a rough example imagine account (A) has a typical mission running setup...
[Myrmidon, shooter] Medium Armor Repairer I Medium Armor Repairer I Radioisotope EM Hardener I Radioisotope EM Hardener I Radioisotope Thermic Hardener I Radioisotope Thermic Hardener I
Medium Capacitor Battery I Medium Capacitor Battery I Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I 10MN Afterburner I
250mm Light 'Scout' Artillery I 250mm Light 'Scout' Artillery I 250mm Light 'Scout' Artillery I 250mm Light 'Scout' Artillery I 250mm Light 'Scout' Artillery I Core Probe Launcher I, Core Scanner Probe I Hobgoblin II x5
and then account (B) has (as a very rough example):
[Myrmidon, support] Medium Armor Repairer I Damage Control I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I Armor EM Hardener I Armor Thermic Hardener I [empty low slot]
Medium Capacitor Battery I Medium Capacitor Battery I Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I 10MN Afterburner I
Medium Remote Armor Repair System I Medium Remote Armor Repair System I Salvager I Salvager I [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Armor Maintenance Bot I x5
Is this a viable option? Do the maintenance bots have more of an advantage over more combat drones? Would adding some ECM to the second account be a better option?
Cheers.

i have two accounts... one kills in cnr and the other salvages and loots in a thrasher... i have only change my second char to rr for the enemies abound 5/5.. which is pretty hard as the cnr pilot has only about 5mil sp...
apart from that he sails through every l4 in the cnr.
i cant see you needing rr for alot of missions... just loot and salvage on second toon and you're isk and lp will fly in :)
thats my 2 cents :)

you may want to consider a passive shield tank or buffer tank on the logistics ship. remote reppers and energy transfer arrays can be very cap hungry. currently my second account uses a passive shield tanked drake for remote repping, energy transfer, repair drones and salvaging as required. Planning to move towards an RR dominix to upgrade the drakes logistics role eventually.

Personally, i would actively tank one ship, and have the other ship have only a buffer tank, and use it to boost (remote rep) the first ship. Just make sure that the first ship gets in first, and aggros the whole room, then the 2nd ship will never be shot at.
Once you have your tanking skills up enough that your first ship can tank all the damage on it's own, swap the remote reppers for another salvager/tractor.
Oh, and bring some tractor beams along... those things are invaluable. Synex Oursulaert Industries

I run 2 accounts myself missioning and what not. Originally i was set up to mine/haul. Now i just tank/loot salvage. No real need to have to tanking ships or reppers. The only thing I use the salvager/looter for is a few extra drones to assist my main.

hmm OK cheers.
I'll have to have another play around on EFT and see what my SP on the second account allows.
How good are the RR drones? Are 5 No. equal to say a medium RR?

Yaa something like that..But you would get more out of using dmg drones, just set them on assist to your agro/fighter ship..Getting more dmg means faster completion and less dmg taken and therefor less tanking needed..

I run mostly an abaddon plus domi in support (no turret skills, only about 1 week training to fly a domi if no galantre skills). Domi has 5 mids so can add target painter support etc, some drone range/tracking modules, sentry damage rigs, and solid drone support (still T1 sentry drones currently). Domi lows I run 6-7 cargo expanders so can carry up to 3286 mtrs loot/salv (with 7 expanders). Regularly run a sensor booster to increase targeting range, ie so can hit out to close to 100 km
I regularly run missions in pairs, eg do the support ships mission first, then the abaddon moves onto the next while the support/salv ship finishes cleaning up. By the time the support ship gets to the next mission the first pocket ready to salv.

Ok been playing around with it tonight and did The Damsel in Distress Level 3
First time I went in I got blow to bits in seconds.
Second time I went in I droped a bookmark and warped back in a bit out, got the agro and warped in the second account who had the RR drones. From then it was easy mode, the RR drones did their job and I cleared it... leaving a trail of wreks 150km long
I've done a couple more since then and the RR drones and remote armor rep has saved my bacon. I've equiped my ship to suit the damage for the missions, just my main doesnt have the skills yet to match the level.
So yes it is a viable option :)

one drone ship with perma tank setup (i use dominix for lv4) + other ship(s) with drones set to assist the tanking ship (I use vexors).
Aggro management is the key issue but once you get hang of it drone swarm rocks.

My pairing for a long time was passive tank Drake + sentry drone Domi.
Aggro management is the key while you're still working towards the CNR and T2 sentries. After you hit that combo, aggro management doesn't matter so much since things die too fast.
Note that the passive tank Drake can still shoot stuff. My 'passive tank' Drake runs with either T2 hardeners or T2 amplifiers (depending on the mission), 3 ballistic controls, afterburner and target painter. This is sufficient tank for Recon (1 of 3) and Vegenace, as long as I have the DPS to back it up. The T2 domi can break most battleship tanks in a few salvos.
For many missions I simply warp in with the Drake, get aggro, proceed to orbit the Domi at 50km while the Domi uses drones and rails to blow stuff up.
Now I have the CNR I simply warp in at 100km, get aggro, warp the Domi in behind and set the sentries to assist. Stuff often blows up between the target painter being activated and the first salvo of cruise missiles arriving at the target.
Yes, I'm probably bragging and attention-whoring, but what I'm really trying to say is - the support character is better off providing you with more DPS than remote repping. T2 sentries and 350mm railguns mean you can use every slot on that boat to boost DPS. Omnidirectional Tracking Links for the drones, Magnetic Field Stabilisers for the rails, etc. Pick the optimum ammunition for 40-50km and off you go.
In the OP example, keep using the Myrm since you can tank just as well in that as with a Drake - and the Myrm can be fitted for shield or armour tanking as fits the scenario. The Domi can be fitted for maximum range on the T2 sentries (eg: Blockade, Damsel In Distress) or maximum short-range firepower (eg: Vengeance, Recon (1 of 3)) where you have the tank orbit the gank at optimal range.

I go all DPS on main ship and use a logistics as the second. The logistics flys shied repair drones and only transfers shield directly in extreme DPS. The logistic also has remote armor rep so I donÆt need that on the DPS ship, also handy to repair drones.
I like to think IÆm burning through level 4Æs faster than 1 ship setups.

I doubt it. Two ships gives you 100% extra DPS if you gear both similarly, or 10% more DPS on the one ship (due to stacking penalties) if you gear the second for remote tanking since you can only push your existing weapons so far.
Adding a second rack of high slots (or a second drone bay) will increase your DPS far more than moving your tank off the main DPS ship.

I love dual accounts, speeds things up no end - I run Amarr Lvl 4 missions.
When my connection was a bit dodgy I used to run a Paladin as my main and then an overtanked Dominix - 3 LAR II and Sentry IIs which would be set to assist the Paladin and would perma run everything. That way I could pretty much use ignore the dominix and focus on the Paladin.
Now my connection is better I run two damage ships; in my case a Nightmare and an Armageddon (training skills to get this one in a Paladin). I insanely run through amarr missions now.
So.
-dodgy connection: go with a sentry dominix ship to assist with perma tank set up. - solid connection, so you can constantly run both: go for a damage ship, ideally the second/weaker ship should have an auto targeted fitted, this way you only really have to lock with the one ship. Maximum damage, carnage and isk:)

Benefits of 1 DPS / tank and 1 healer:
Main ship never has to warp out
Main ship infrequently has to swap tank because he can OMNI tank well.
Minimal and infrequent capacitor management.
Less frantic targeting and selection than a 2 ship DPS setup.
Because of the above 2, less chance for human error. Targeting and firing with 2 ships takes a lot of attention and makes it possible to overlook a capacitor going low or perhaps a ship tanking more damage than you expected.
Infact makes for some nice lazy mission running and if you have done level 4 all day long you know its nice to just relax.

Benefits of 2 DPS with sentry drones:
Neither ship ever has to warp out
Stuff dies fast enough that tank is not an issue
No capacitor management. Pulse the shield booster every now and then if necessary.
Sentry drones can be set to assist the DPS ship, so no alt+tabbing required.
Drone carrier (Dominix) can be used to remote tank the DPS ship too.

I think RR drones are a waste. Its just better to use sentries which you set to assist your dps boat. That way you get more dps with minimum effort.

This. Get agro with passive drake, start firing FoFs. Domi deploys 5xGarde2 -> assist Drake. Go afk.... profit.

When running two accounts, it seems sensible to have some leadership skills and fleet up. You can get the skills to level III quickly and get some nice little bonuses. I like the armor bonus for my armor tank ships, it was faster and cheaper to get the bonus than training other skills to V.
My question is, does the booster get his own bonus? If you are only going to do it on one character, do you want to put it on the support, or can it be on the main?

yup the squad booster gets his own bonuses as well. I have at least all of the leadership skills up to 3, and every little bit helps. + scan res, + armor + shields + targeting range, + etc.
for me i triple-box. i use a navy mega, psuedo-gank fit, a rr-domi with sentries + a remote tracking link (OMG such a useful module) + salvagers, and an orca as a looter.
i tank full aggro with the mega, Domi assigns sentries + remote tracking links/remote rep and salvages along the way, while the orca pulls in wrecks and loots. with this setup i run 3 missions in a row, with the orca there i can refit inon the field and carry extra ammo.
once i graduate to a kronos, the orca pilot is moving into a command ship (preferably a damnation).
i prefer the 1 gun/missile ship + drones and RR setup over the 2 gun/missile ship, simply because it takes much less attention to manage.

Edited by: Jim Junlot on 05/06/2009 20:26:34 Edited by: Jim Junlot on 05/06/2009 20:23:27 I usually do missions with 3 accounts, but the third account is only there as a looter/salvager and I plan on training up leadership skills on it too.
My basic setup is as follows: Note: My dps numbers don't include drone dps.
Account A (Main account):
Caldari Navy Raven - pretty much fit how you would for running missions solo, but went with a cap stable tank. Does about 600 DPS, and can tank about 350 DPS. I use this ship as my main tank, and have it focus on the cruiser & battlecrusiers first.
Account B (Secondary account, 10m SP):
Abaddon - fit for heavy dps using pulse lasers, with a light tank (medium rep + 1 or 2 hardeners). Does about 800 DPS @ 60km and can tank 100. I have this ship focus on popping approaching frigs and melting battleships.
Any frig that gets too close to pop with the lasers gets 10 light T2 drones sent after them.
My normal method of operating is to warp in the Raven and get aggro from the first group and then warp in the Abaddon. Between the two ships they can usually wipe out all the npcs very quickly, so really either ship can tank, but I try to get most of the ships aggroed on the raven since its a lot easier. I don't need to ever warp out the raven, and only need to warp out the Abaddon if I make a big mistake.
Once the first room is clear I warp in my third account to loot & salvage everything. I normally do this while my battleships are approching the next gate but will sometimes salvage at the same time they are fighting the in the next room. But fighting with two accounts while salvaging with a third can be pretty taxing, just can click fast enough!
Overall my strategy revolves around DPS, since you don't need much of a tank if you can kill everything quick enough. And the faster you can kill everything the faster you can make money. I don't see the logic behind the tank + healer setups as a way to really improve the amount of isk/hour you can make. Right now with two ships I can put out about 1400 DPS, with a tank and healer setup, even if the tank goes for 100% gank and fully relies on the healer ship he won't approach that type of dps, and especially not without maxed skills. Although this only applies to level 4 missions, I don't have any experience with any higher lvl pve so it might be different there. |

1x Dominix, 5xcap T2, 4xT2 hardners 2 of each mission spec, 1xDCU T2, 2xAmarr LargeArmor repair, 1aux, 2 CCC T2(This one takes all agro) 1x CNR, 7xSige T2, 4x hardners 2 of each mission spec, 2xTargetpainters, 4XBall T2 , 1xPDU. If you have the money go caldari sige and Ball. with 5 hammer t2, you get a but over 1300 DPS, you can hit BC and BS perfect, you can also take out cruiers and destroyers. Frigs are left for the dominix

once i graduate to a kronos, the orca pilot is moving into a command ship (preferably a damnation).
To make full use of the Orcas capabilities, carry the Damnation and a salvage Dessie in the maintenance bay.
warp the Orca to a safespot or the mission gate if deadspace, eject the Damnation, target Lock the now empty Orca and activate the warfare links.
Note that contrary to what many people think, the Orca cannot be boarded by anyone but the owner if it is locked. Anyone dubious about this just go out and try it with an alt. I only tested this with the Orca but I assume it will work on any ship. Remember to activate "keep at current range" so you cant be bumped out of lock range.
The Damnation can fit up to 7 links with 4 command processors and a few Copro's. I use the Vulture I fit the 3 armor links for the Kronos damage dealer, + shield harmonizing and sig reduction links for the passive tanker, the other 2 slots have the web range and signal strength links. Pilot has the Shield mind-link to give 25.875% boost to shield resists.
To max all the link skills takes 11,000,000 Sp's so will be a while before you get max benefits.
Once the mission is done, re-board and warp to the mission site, use the 70km tractors to pile up the wrecks, eject the Dessie and salvage in less than a minute with 7 salvagers and a Auto-targeter II. Remember to transfer the salvage to the corp hanger before re-boarding the Orca or you wont be able to scoop the Dessie.
I do this with lvl V missions, some of which have over 8k m3 loot. Only need to dock every 10 missions or so.
Corporation standings transfer service for Hisec Pos, 9.99 to Gallente, 9.64 to Minmatar
