Over month ago I asked here hows pirating and what are the benefits. Then it took weeks before I actually started my career. I joined Libertas Fidelitas alliance (Providence) with my all characters and I was about to go back to that exhausting 0.0 NRDS alliance style of playing. So there I was in my Crow, in Providence. I was dual boxing and escorting my alt and well, I blame the beer, alt got ganked in Iteron mark V by a pirate.
That was the final nail in the coffin. Screw this, I straight away engaged everything in Providence that I could. Things got little too tense and I headed out to low sec. My sec status dropped quite fast from 5.0
Afterwards I joined into my first pirate corporation, Malevolent Intentions, nice group of fellows but sadly not in my primary gaming timezone so I moved onwards to Dark Materials. Now I have been having tons of fun with Drake and Crow. Sec status is -6.6 and I hope I hit -10.0 soon
It's just the feeling of freedom what makes pirating the best form of pvp in EVE. Zero zero space holding alliances sure give you pvp options, but those 8 hour long operations really are like having a second job in military Sure the massive fights, building the fight, different strategies used are awesome, but as quite casual player like me, it's bit too much of time wise.
When I undock my Crow and head to the belts I feel relaxed, not worried about how I can fund my next set of fleet battleships With billion ISK I can buy and fit 50 Crows and that's more than enough Sure I will be flying other ships in low sec in the future, but now I am mostly learning strategies and tactics of lowsec warfare. You have to take account on many different things and but also there is endless list of targets waiting you.
Usually I have funded my pvp by trading, but last week for example I haven't done a single trade run I have spent my gaming time in belts looking for perfect gank
Anyway, thanks to all of those posters who encouraged me to switch pirate career, it sure was worth it! I look forward and don't know what future brings in lowsec, but I am sure that I will never ever rat or mission again!

I understand what you are saying, I am actually in transition to join the "YARR" side of the moon.

Hehe, that was a good fight
I just downed a Caracal before that fight and I was searching you at the belts, perhaps little too much adrenaline in my vains

Don't rule out 0.0 for making isk through pvp; you can always ransom ratters and they tend to fly more expensive things in 0.0 than in low sec. 0.0 also lets you fight on gates in frigs and cruisers without worrying about gate sentries.

The important question is, did you ever get that chap who ganked your Iteron V, or did you follow the "if you can't beat them, join them" bandwagon?

Edited by: Fox Ogmo on 11/05/2009 17:53:46 Thought I recognised your name from somewhere and found it at last. You were in a pirate corp with me for all of 1 hour and 46 minutes on the 10th of march 2008.... What was that about? Second thoughts back at that time?

Park enough BS on a gate and you can sit there with GCC in an interceptor without bein instapopped.
Likelihood of more than one sentry cycling on you at once gets rather small if enough are on gate, when a sentry opens up on you you warp to an off grid spot then back in.
