CCP made a lot of failed promises at fanfest. One of the things I was most anticipating was the introduction of epic mission arcs.
We do have one, very un epic, aimed at noobs arc.
where is the rest of our promised content?
I feel short changed.

Did you miss the whole part about this being a work in development, i.e. more arcs will be added as they're developed. Damn the devs for creating something new players might enjoy. What were they thinking?

Given how stupid your reply is, let me clarify for you.
I am not complainaing about devs creating new content, in fact i am quite looking forwards to it. I even gorund my sec status from -9 to -2 so i can re-enter hi sec to play these epic mission arcs.
What i am complaining about is failed delivery. There is NO content.

Some people have no patience...
They stated a March delivery for the tools. They made no grand claims that every epic mission arc would be done by then. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... Environmental Effects

Sounds as though someone needs a new Dev Blog that explains the process by which epic mission arcs are created (including a reasonable timeline and list of approvals required to release the new content). ----------- Cleaning up the garbage in null sec, one belt at a time... |

Wow, they were working on improving the new player experience and so the first epic storyline arc that they completed was aimed at newbies. It's madness I tell you!! Madness!

NO THIS IS SPARTA
I think the first epic arc being for noobs was a good move although it would have been nice to have had an intermediate one at launch.
Also it would be nice to know more about the development of them.

Oh I agree, it would have been nice. But there's the old saying that if you give people a finger they want the whole hand, and if you give them the hand they want the whole arm... The only way CCP would ever be able to keep up with all the unreasonable demands made by players was if they had a time machine. And a helluva lot of coffee.
Only one answer here: patience is a virtue.

I hope the next arc is a level 5, requiring a four-man battleship group to complete, and takes the player out of hisec and into losec.
THAT would be truly epic. And the complains on the forums? Blessed be, they would be marvelous.
So say we all.

wtf!!?? does that mean epic arcs are made just for noobs or what?? i mean, what are the chances a l4 mission runner could be offered such a mission, or do i really have to go all the way from oris to x70 and talk to the gallente nuns?? -------------------------------------------

There is only one epic arc at the moment. Yes, it is only for new players, though old players can do it (look forward to receiving a destroyer skill book and maybe a hundred k isk on the high end, hahaha).
There will be more added later. It's still a new mechanic.

Lazarann said "Pretty sure it's you who's clearly wrong, but by now you've probably figured that out from the other replies." No he isn't that wrong. What we got was not the type of Epic arch promised in the dev blog. All the best bets of epic arcs the blog talked about are missing from the arch we got.

Sister what's-her-face is certainly memorable. If I ever catch her in a ship again I'll shoot the woman. NPC or no, she was annoying, and nobody likes feeling manipulated.

Edited by: Pottsey on 02/05/2009 16:06:18 Tippia said " Hmmą No, we got more or less exactly that." They only said that after going back on what they said before. I was thinking more the stuff the promised before with the fancy chart with all the branching. The chart which showed different endings based on our choices.
Even going on that blog. " give out cool new toys (or at least exceptional rewards) at the ends of chapters and, of course, at the end of each complete arc." Sort of missing from the current arch. There are no exceptional rewards at the end of chapters and there was not even a reward at the end of the arch even though some agent(s) talked about giving a reward at the end. The arch just stoped.
" These missions also incorporate a new branching system, providing players with choices in the path through an Epic Arc." Was nothing at all like they talked about. It was take a mission choice then straight back onto the normal path. If I can find a link to the chart I will edit it into this post.
" As the story progresses and the rewards grow more enticing," Did anyone find the reward growing more enticing?

And you're positively sure we're getting that? If so, how?
They told us we'd be getting epic arcs and we did. They told us what the first one would look like, and it did look like that. They told us what the tools let them do, and what the problems are in creating these arcs…
…so what haven't they given us yet? Where's the broken promise?

Edited by: Pottsey on 02/05/2009 16:57:21 Tippia said "They told us what the first one would look like, and it did look like that." Are we reading the same blog and feature page? What they told us would be in arch was not in the first arch. Where was the special reward at the end of chapters and end of the arch? Where is the reward the epic agent said you would get at the end of the arch? Where is the branching like in the screenshot? Where are the rewards getting more enticing like the feature page says for the first arch?
Tippia said " And you're positively sure we're getting that? If so, how?" I am not sure we are getting all that. It's what was promised by CCP. But if we get it is another matter.

Oh, don't we all know that every losec gate is camped 24/7 (even during downtime) by titans and hundreds of support ships, one shot killing everyone who even pokes the nose of their ship in?
Pirates, after all, are such vicious things.

Apparently no. I'm reading the blog linked in this thread where they discuss their first attempt at creating an epic arc — the one we see in the game right now. No other blog has been mentioned or linked. None of you quotes exist in that blog.

Only one epic mission is available per today, but when they rolled that one out, they also rolled out a tool for developing those missions from what I remember. This way they could bring us more epic missions relatively fast from that date. Now, when we will see more of those missions I dont know, but they will come. I guess we will have a few more within a few months.
Be patient!

No, but it take about 10 minutes probing to find your expensive mission fitted ship and its not that hard to kill it when under attack of dozens of NPCs and you also don't need titan to kill missioner on gate, all you have to do is web+scramble and have 2-3 much cheaper ships.

Or, the mission runner could sacrifice some of that indomitable tank for buffer, have one of the group (I did say four, didn't I?) put on a web and some ECM, carefully watch local and run that scanner to look for probes in the area (missions' aren't THAT attention grabbing), and prepare himself and his crew for the inevitable 'onslaught'.
Fly cheaper ships (don't throw rigs in everything, and leave your CNR in it's bay), fit for dps, buffer your tank and warpout, and dedicate yourself to keeping tabs of who is where, what they are doing, and not being taken off guard. A few rotational warp-outs can bypass your perma-tank issues, and moving smartly can bypass your gate-camp issues.
