Members of the Caldari militia mobilised today to take Covryn for the good of the State. Gallente Forces were no where in sight and the only opposition came from the local pirate carriers. Yet we still won the day. Thanks to Damar, BM, my guys in the 22nd, Andraz and his blob.

A special note should be made to the 22nd BRDU-Force Division for there tireless, and often hotly contested, plexing operations in the region. 22nd Force was able to take most plexs in the region with in hours of down time and continue the pressure well into the evening.
Contrats to TooNu and the Force Division.

Explain to me why people care about FW influence when it has no bearing on anything and it's boring as hell to do plexes unless there's PvP involved? ___________________

I don't think you know what the term trolling means. The OP was closer to a troll than that post.
Also congrats on taking some undefended systems, I guess.

4 pirate carriers in system was not exactly undefended, boring or uneventfull. Explanation why influence matters: we set it as our objective. We are working towards it and making gains. It matters to us, which is all that matters to us. Feel free to not be interested.
Special thanks to the pervs and the Cadre. Wouldn't happen without them.

OP stuck his e-peen into this thread and his friends quickly latched on and started licking. Well done Caldari for taking an undefended system. So which wore you out more, orbiting a plex or making this thread? ---------- This post brought to you by the worst PVP'er in Eve |

Yet again nobody cares. There is no benefit to taking systems in FW. And why bother if its not even defended its not even gonna be fun.

Yeah I just realised I'd forgotten the carriers. I was more or less referring to the actual Militia not defending it though, as opposed to neutrals in carriers.

I was pretty sure the pirates would come. We had a decent blob but much smaller ships than pirates had at their disposal so onslaught of 4 carriers would have probably hurt us badly. In the end, we lost Rokh/Raven and killed Absolution/Hurricane so isk wise that's probably a win for us.

Then there's going to be a downtime "event" in which all of the systems get reset to a nice 50/50 balance. You're insane if you think CCP will just suddenly make such a fundamental change to the rules without doing anything to fix the consequences of the way it's been (poorly) run up to that point. ==========

Still says "Soverignty: Gallente Federation". I am still able to dock and buy stuff. Nothing attacked me when I entered, certainly not any Caldary Navy. Some occupation.

It's because most caldari are born as mission runners - they are shockingly immune to being bored by repaetedly shooting npc's without a purpose...

Fail post. Have the courage to post on your main or go away.
That said, while taking Covryn is nice, let's not get too excited. Many more to take before Placid is ours.

Why plex?
From a simple PVP perspective plexing creates a fixed point in space that is easily found and applies a rough ship equalizer to all sides. That alone makes it worth the time.
As a beginner it's nice to know that I can find a place where if I sit only ships of a certain size will be able to come to me. By sitting in there I'm demonstrating my willingness to fight (if I think I've got at least a 10% chance of winning. ;) ) and by looking around for other plexes I'm scouting for other players also so willing. All in an arena where we'll both be limited in our ship selection. That's fun.
Additionally the presence of rats adds another layer of tactics and consideration making smaller forces able to play the defender and hold off larger gangs. The distance from the time down location to the warp in allows for long distance PVP'ing, something that fighting around gates does not so often provide for.
Why plex? In short because it's a mechanism for enabling PVP. And a kind of PVP that I've yet to find anywhere else. It's nice to know I can fly a dessy or a frig and won't have to face anything larger than other dessies and frigs. Twenty minutes plexing with no PVP is no more boring than 20 minutes of roaming around looking for and not finding a fight. But I've found plexing buys me more fights than roaming, per unit time. And that's why I plex.

I had fun today. I logged on, Andraz wanted X's, I pulled out the Rokh and headed out with our gang. 40 mins later the bunker was down. Good work to all that planned it, I was just happy to tag along.
IDK, it seems the only time the galls care about plexes is when it is discussed on the forums.

After thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that it's actually better to not have occupancy. If you don't care about occupancy, you can keep your contested systems anywhere you want, which makes attracting WTs easier since you can keep them closer to home, and if you have the logistics to support it, plexing is actually better and much safer income than ratting - with the major caveat being that you only get paid for an offensive plex, not a defensive one.
Of course, the actual fights themselves are easier in a defensive plex but it's not that can't be worked around.
