Hi there. I am probing and have found sevelra things, like unstable wormhole, or gravity sites, rat sites etc, I get a 100% signal strength, which usually meant - you can now warp to! but I can not ?
The probe is at 0,25 AU, tried stacking 8 on top of it, all is giving 100% signal strenght, but theres no green dot, and I can't rightclick and press warp to on the results either.
Is this a bug? or lack of skills? got Astrometrics 4, the "support" skills in 3.

Your problem is that you're not placing your probes right. You only need four, but you need to make sure they don't all sit in the same plane or — as seems to be the case for you — in the same spot. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Edited by: Linia on 24/04/2009 16:17:10 but its 100%, meaning it has found it, I don't get it?
And also, if they'r all in the same spot, they should be super duped stacked and get super duper results, since they all overlap eachother?? |

no 100% dont mean automatical you got it. 100% means, you are close enough to find it for sure.
To get a BM/Warp result you need to have 100% AND a 4 probes hit

well if its within the 0,25 AU probes ball circle thing, putting 3 other probes on the same spot, should be fine since they all hit all the possible locations?

No, it means the probes are 100% sure the hit is what is says it is and sits at the distance they think it does. It does not mean that those distances can be used to calculate a precise coordnate in 3D-space.
Each probe only provides a distance to the signal, and if you have all the probes in the same place, they will all say that the signal is at distance x away from that spot… which is useless information since that distance could be in any direction. This gives you a spherical hit.
If you spread them out a bit along a line, they can figure out where on, and how far off, that line the signal is, but again, not in which direction. This gives you a circle of potential locations.
If you spread the probes out on a plane, it's much the same thing: they can figure out where on the plane the signal is, and the distance from the plane, but not whether that distance is "up" or "down".
To get an exact fix, you need to get solid hits from four probes that do not all sit on the same plane. Adding more probes doesn't improve the hit (since only the best four are used in the calculation), but it may improve on your chances of getting those hits. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Would the skill that reduces the deviation by 10% help anything at this? |

Quite possibly, post your probing skills here so that we can take a look. |

It shouldn't. You already have a 100% hit — you know very precisely where it is, just not where among the many potential locations that is. To figure that part out, you need to spread out your probes so they can triangulate quadrilaterate the signal correctly. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

No it will not, deviation is not your problem. Here is the issue, you have to TRIANGULATE to find the location of the hit. When all your probes are on top of each other you are not triangulating, all the probes can tell you is that there is a signal out there that is x distance away, but not where exactly it is, hence, you cannot warp to it. You have to separate the probes so that each one reads the x distance from a DIFFERENT location in order to pinpoint where in space the signal you found is located. Then you can warp to it.

I seen this before and found it has to do with your bubble placement. when you run into this, shift you bubbles around a bit. Move one higher, another lower, move yet another to the side. All the while keeping them overlapping the spot but as close to the bubbles edge as possible. I find stacking them like a pyramid with the edges just overlaping the spot works well too.

Tried the thingies with placing them like said in a few posts and it worked nicely. Thanks for the replies all |
