I must say i'm IMPRESSED by the new warp effect on sisi, it's one of the best new shiny things i've seen in EVE and probably one of the most notable at first glance.
Kudos!!! and i think it's an awesome substition for the old warp effect, that gave EVE the feeling of vastness for many years.
While watching it a couple of times, 1 thing became a little too obvious and I think could be looked into:
when you're in warp the new warp effect overlays the graphics of the system you're in and its sun; but while IN high warp (full warp speed) the colorness of eve - especially rich starry backgrounds remain a little too bright i think. It's most obvious if you look at 90Ķangle of your warping direction. The whole system is still seen just as brightly in the background of the warp effect and the main star remains just as bright. Makes the new warp effect feel too "texturish".
My question and suggestion is: would it be possible to dim the main star and the background nebula of the eve system while you're in warp ? - i'm thinking something along the line making the background progressivly dimmer as u enter higher warp speeds. This effect would emphasize the current one with white texture (on sisi) a lot more.
I could be wrong, because i don't know how my suggestion would make the effect really look, but I'd love the feedback from some1 who does :)
The brackets of stations/ stargates/ planets would of course need to remain brightly lit, as they're "computer generated constructs" to make you feel oriented even in high warp speed.
Question 2: a few years ago CCP was proud to release a feature that made your client in space able to "see" the whole EVE dottish galaxy in the background while you were flying in space. This thing was released at the same time as the seamless zoom to map was, i think. What happaned to it? I never see "true EVE stars" anymore in client.

Is this a new new effect, or the first time the OP has seen the post-Apocrypha warp effect?

Its newnew, only on sisi at the moment, and looks great. I'm not a fan of the post apoc version, but this is far better. :)
We do need the old starfield back though, that looked way better :P

No **** OP,
It was actually more extreme with the old warp effect that's still on tranquility.
That's just how Eve's light works, it's environmental, you've seen it on the ships.
I've thought about suggesting putting some artificial light sources on the warp tunnel but meh, didn't think it was important.
Glad everyone likes the new warp effect anyway, as the other one sucked.

I'm not too fond of it, It's just blue... looks fake
I did actually like the post-apoc one apart from a few things, like how it cut out completely when you were slowing down...

That actually looks really good!
I'd log onto SiSi, but I have limited bandwidth and I can't be bothered doubling up my EVE folder! ________________________________________________

Can someone recommend good video recording and editing software?
I suck at that kind of stuff and when I tried fraps I got like a 200 meg file in super high quality that wouldnt shrink.

That indeed looks really nice, the tunnel is more visible, and the fade effect is more obvious now aswell. Really nice indeed.

It is FAR better, no idea why they scrapped it... Somehow it ended up as the ECCM effect...

A CCP member said it didn't pass QA (Quality Assurance) because it was causing performance issues on lower end machines and it was not possible to fix it before the deployment of the patch, though I do hope they bring it back. |
