I've looked around, but all I find are players selling these books, so I'm curious as to where they originate from?

They are loyalty point rewards. There are no NPC's directly selling them for only ISK, same with gun and missile spec skills iirc

^^ Luckily for you, this guy right up here is wrong.
Missiles are primarily used by Minmatar and Caldari, so perhaps check their space for missiles. Guns are various, with Caldari and Gallente going Hybrid, Minmatar going Projectile and Amarr going Laser, so check the individual space for their specialization books.
For the drones, well, each drone specialization skill has a faction in front of it.
Name: Gallente Drone Specialization (for Thermal drones) Minmatar Drone Specialization (for Explosive drones) Caldari Drone Specialization (for Kinetic drones) Amarr Drone Specialization (for EM drones)
Check their individual space, at some of their schools.

Actually, he is right. You can buy specialization books from npcs in lp shops only. All the spec books on the market are sold by players.

When the devil was that changed? I mean, when I bought the books 2+ years ago, they were sold by NPCs....

And so the question continues - *which* corp LP stores have them?

Well, there is this site which should help:
http://www.ellatha.com/eve/LP_Stores.asp
Although I don't know how uptodate it is...
I can tell you from my own experience that the faction navy LP stores have the drone books (eg: federation navy, republic fleet etc), so just do some missions for the relevent NPC military corp and you should find them...

<race> drone spec skills are sold either buy plyers - from lp rewards or by npc's in the relevent region. players are cheaper than npc's -- BIG Lottery, BIG Deal, InEve |

Yes, definately - the drone spec books from LP stores are 3000LP's each so if you aren't already running higher level missions for the relevent corps it could be a bit of an arse...
PS - RaTTus, can you update my profile pic on ineve please, I have left a link in the ineve thread, cheers

Then someone must be seriously fracking with eve-centrals data on these skill books.
As per eve-central the drone spec books are available at the follow NPC stations. Amarr: Imperial Academy, Hedion University, Royal Amarr Institute Caldari: State War Academy, School of Applied Knowledge, Science and Trade Institute Gallente: Federal Navy Academy, University of Caille, Center for Advanced Studies Minmatar: Republic Military, Republic University, Pator Tech
It is worth noting that there are significant quantities of these skills available for vastly less than the NPC price via player sell orders. Likely the players are getting these skill books from the LP store or other such sources.

All that says is a book was sold at a station. Says nothing about an NPC being the seller.

actually looking at the available quantities, it DOES appear the npcs still sell the drone spec books.. The non-drone tech 2 books (Small Railgun Specialization, etc.) though, are LP store only.

If its a Caldari faction corp, it offers Caldari Drone spec in its LP shop. Same goes for the other factions.
Just like you can get Cal Navy ammo from other Caldari corps...

You are better off buying from players than NPC on these ones, as they typically sell for around 2M. Lowest NPC selling price is 90% of the base price which is: 8,100,000.00 ISK. NPC sales are always 364 days duration.
