Edited by: Richard Copper on 03/04/2009 01:38:51 I have a fairly standard fitting on a CNR: CML II x 6 CN Hardeners x 4 (Invuln x 2, mission specific x 2) SBA II LSB II CNBC II x 3 CFC II x 2 CCC I x 3
Everywhere I check (eft/eve-hq etc) it shows as stable, but it isn't. The LSB alone will drain the cap until empty. Is there a new stacking penalty that I (and the fitter apps) don't know about or am I losing it...?

I guess I should have seen that question coming... I'm using my profile in the fitter apps, but regardless all my cap related skills are V.

No time like the present to level them to V. You don't want to lose that CNR to an L4 of all things.

EFT has the cap draining at 40m 52s (-46.4, +46.2) with all skills V.
If you're using EFT, does the character you're using have implants? The import feature doesn't pick up on implants, so you have to manually keep them up to date on your character profile.

Are you sure all your related skills are 5? Don't forget "Shield Compensation", it's not a "cap skill", but it saves you cap when using a shield booster.
Also, are you sure it's a CNR? If so, why 6 cruise launchers. Should be 7. Not that it matters, a vanilla raven has the same cap.
Another factor that may come up if you are right on the borderline of cap stability is the fact that cap is drained in discrete chunks by the shield booster, while the optimal regen rate is only at one specific value of cap. So if you're cap is above that optimal regen point, then your shield booster pulses and drops your cap enough that it goes below the optimal regen point, then your cap will actually drain to 0 without ever having been at that optimal regen (at which it would have been stable). Usually, this is a pretty minor effect though; generally just about any fit that shows cap stable in EFT will be cap stable in game provided your skills/implants/etc are all exactly identical. However, with 3 CFCs, it drops your cap capacity enough that it may be a bit more of a factor.
And to answer your question, no, there is no new stacking penalty on cap regen.

Maybe you lack some implants that helps with shields/caps? As well as, are you testing the ship's setup in safe space or engaged with rats? If with rats, maybe up against NOSing or Neuting rats? -------------- "Victory needs no explanation, defeat allows none." "Only the awkward question; only the foolish ask twice." |

The optimal regen rate is an interesting concept, I didn't know about it. The cap rates are reported as -46 and + 47.59 (drain/recharge respectively) so perhaps there's something to it. This isn't an uncommon fitting, it's everywhere...make me wonder if my toon is bugged somehow...

its only cap stable if you use small chunks of cap, the booster takes a large enough chunk to skip the peak recharge spot so needs a bit more then cap stable to work please resize your signature to the maximum allowed file size of 24000 bytes. Navigator Shhhh, Im hunting Badgers |

Try the Pithi 2 Small SB setup, in place of the LSB II and SBA II. This enables you to use 3 Warhead Rigor Catalyst I's as you won't need the CCC I's. Works for every Level IV I've done, altho I haven't done the AE bonus room.
Your gank then becomes a big part of your tank, and cruisers/bc's go down real quick.
Most of the time I just need to use one of the small SB's, and occasionally kick in the other. As you remove incoming DPS quickly, your shields do hold up quite well.
You can check other CNR threads to confirm the efficacy of this setup.

You don't get to be cap stable if you run large boosters. It's an either-or proposition: either be cap stable with small boosters, OR run large/XL boosters in pulsed mode and don't worry about cap stability.
